Resolution Could Affect Morale -- Snow

White House spokesman Tony Snow urged the U.S. House to carefully consider any resolution regarding Iraq because of the potential impact on troop morale.

Snow told the Monday press briefing House members "need to understand that words do travel and they need to assess what impact they think they may have."

...

"I think there's a common misperception that all we're going is we're throwing an extra 21,000 into exactly the same mission that existed before," Snow said. "You've got a different structure with the Iraqis. You have different rules of engagement. You have a different approach to trying to deal with problems if violence, including integrating economic development teams, provisional reconstruction teams, in areas where we have cleared out some of the bad guys.

...

Snow said there will be "real consequences" to pulling U.S. troops out of Iraq without first stabilizing the country.

2. Ed Schultz said it best...
If our troops can't handle the country debating the mission they were forced to undertake, we must have the most sensitive, tender, delicate troops ever.

Somehow, I think the troops will survive the debate. At least we're thinking about them. If left to this administration, the troops' needs would be completely ignored.

3. When I was in the service I didn't pay any attention to politics "back home"
We didn't have the time to sit around and wonder over what the politicians were or weren't doing. If we had free time we damn sure didn't sit around worrying over the validity of our mission.

Tony Snow has never served a single day in uniform and is talking out of his ass. Soldiers, sailors and marines could not care less about our discussions.

6. I guess seeing the dead bodies of their fellow soldiers blown to bits lying around the streets
of Baghdad because of a lack of armoured vehicles doesn't affect morale at all, right Tony?

You f*ckin' putz!

What a lying sack of shit this man is.

8. Yeah, the resolution might affect troop morale--it might IMPROVE it...
Imagine hearing that the US Congress is finally coming to terms with the lies of BushCo. Imagine the light at the end of a very long, dark tunnel...

9. beat me to it
:-)

I'm sure the guys getting their asses shot at would like to have a debate on whether they should be there and when they can come home. They know its a clusterfuck.

What they need to know as that someone in power in this country is paying attention and is going to do something to end this endless nightmare

17. Um, Yeah. . .
Chief of Staff Peter Pace: As long as this Congress continues to do what it has done, which is to provide the resources for the mission, the dialogue will be the dialogue, and the troops will feel supported.

Defence Secretary Robert Gates: I think they’re < the troops are > sophisticated enough to understand that that’s what the debate’s really about.

25. I think the troops seeing Tony Snow in a helicopter
looking so "frickin" petrified that he seems about to piss himself does more to harm their morale than a debate and vote in Congress.

Does anyone still have that picture of Tony in the helmet looking like a little boy who lost his mommy in the grocery store? That was classic.
