Opposition forces through bill compelling (Canadian) government to respect Kyoto
OTTAWA -- Opposition parties forced through legislation today requiring the Conservative government to respect Canada’s commitments under the Kyoto accord.

But the bill’s passage sets the stage for a possible constitutional quagmire.

The Liberal bill passed 161-113 in the House of Commons, with the backing of the NDP and the Bloc Quebecois.

All Tory MPs present voted against. Tories have suggested the government will simply ignore the bill even after it passes the Senate and becomes the law of the land.

.......

The bill, which is expected to receive the swift approval of the Senate, gives the government 60 days to table a detailed plan for meeting Kyoto targets to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions.

It also compels the government to set fines or jail terms for businesses and industries that over-pollute.

The Conservatives have rejected the Kyoto targets - a six per cent drop from 1990 levels - calling them unattainable and dangerous to the economy.

2. Sometimes, lousy days hand you a bonus.......
And this is a bonus.

Harper's "green" initiatives are more smoke and mirrors.....naming it "clean air" just shows where his heart is....with the bush bots.

4. My feeling is that Harper's days are numbered.... I never voted..
for his Government because of him, even though we have a great MP... and I think they will be out very soon. Now the only problem that I have is I don't want to see a Majority Govt. in period, certainly not at this time. My understanding is that unbeknown to the Canadian people, Paul Martin (during his visit to the infamous ranch) voted for amalgamating Canada, The US, and Mexico.... Bull shit big time, there would be so much shit flying if these shit heads try to carry this out....

6. Oh it's for real alright... inside you will find another link to it...

What the hell more do you need to know to accept that this screw ups are wanting to amalgamate the 3 countries.... My amazement is that Paul Martin was instrumental in this..... I guess he is a low type scum as well, but not nearly as bad as Stephen Harper. IMHO...

7. Sorry, but I don't know enough about Canadian politics...
but I love the fact that North America; the U.S. and Canada and Mexico; are unique and special countries in their own right. Which will no doubt be lost by combining the 3 countries. I don't want to see it happen for that reason as well as the more obvious economic one that it will not be good for the middle class, the working class or the poor.
