Breaking news now on NPR and other stations here in Nevada.

HA HA!

Couldn't happen to a better piece of scum...

This can go along with the sexual assault charges that were brought against him and dropped as soon as he was sworn in, along with a few other dubious deeds.

What a piece of work he is.

And a repuke - so it comes naturally to them...

can't remain on-line now - very busy at work.

sorry for the post and run...

2. Corruption is not limited to repukes. Sadly Alabama's Gov. Siegelman, Democrat, convicted in 2006.
Latest convictions put spotlight on Alabama ethics

Alabama had an embarrassing day in the national spotlight June 29 when a federal court jury convicted former Gov. Don Siegelman and former HealthSouth CEO Richard Scrushy. The jury found them guilty of swapping $500,000 in political contributions for a seat on a state hospital regulatory board.

Siegelman's conviction came 13 years after a Montgomery jury found Gov. Guy Hunt guilty of using inaugural funds for personal expenses.

Siegelman's former executive secretary, Nick Bailey, pleaded guilty to bribery in 2003 and testified against Siegelman and Scrushy. Siegelman campaign contributor and friend Lanny Young also pleaded guilty in 2003 and testified about buying meals and gifts for Siegelman and members of his Cabinet.

3. This is a DEMOCRATIC forum. That's OLD news. It doesn't apply here.
Why would you dredge up something to make Democrats look bad?

I'm sure anybody could dredge up examples of some dems behaving badly if you looked hard enough.

The climate currently is that for the past 12 years of absolute control, the REPUKES have demonstrated time and again how corrup they are and especially how they are willing to look the other way.

I could care less about Siegelman TODAY...

4. The OP said "(repuke, naturally)" strongly implying only repuke politicians are corrupt.
I worked on Siegelman's campaign and I did not "dredge up something to make Democrats look bad". I simply stated a fact.

6. Nevada Govenor Facing FBI Probe
Brendan Riley, The Associated Press
February 15, 2007, 2:34 PM PST

... The newly elected Republican governor's office issued a statement saying that while he was a close friend of the company owner, Warren Trepp, there was "no special power" that Gibbons could provide in awarding defense contracts to the company.

Trepp, a former chief trader for convicted junk-bond dealer Michael Milken, also has denied any wrongdoing. He didn't immediately return calls Thursday to his office at his eTreppid Technologies LLC in Reno ...

Gibbons had asked the House ethics committee in November for an opinion about whether he improperly reported private jet flights and a Caribbean cruise paid for by Trepp, whose company has millions of dollars worth of classified federal software contracts from the Air Force, U.S. Special Operations Command and the CIA.

The Journal reported new evidence had emerged in a lawsuit in Reno, including e-mails to Trepp discussing a payment or gifts to then-Rep. Gibbons. The e-mails also show Gibbons using his congressional office to help the company seek classified military and civilian contracts, the newspaper said ...

7. FBI investigates Nevada governor
BRENDAN RILEY
Associated Press

CARSON CITY, Nev. - ...

"Please don't forget to bring the money you promised Jim and Dawn," Trepp's wife, Jale Trepp, said in a March 22, 2005, e-mail days before Trepp and his wife embarked on the Caribbean cruise with Jim Gibbons and his wife, Dawn, a former Nevada state assemblywoman.

According to the Journal, Trepp responded minutes later saying: "Don't you ever send this kind of message to me! Erase this message from your computer right now!" ...

8. Oh, HE'S THE ONE who assaulted that woman on the way to her car. I remember this, now.
Very, very odd. He wriggled right out of that, apparently.

Looking for a photo, I saw this information:
Jim Gibbons calls people communists and plagiarized a two-year old hate speech that said critics should be used as human shields in Iraq.
Just days after apologizing for calling critics of the $40 million spent on George W. Bush's Inauguration festivities "communists", Jim Gibbons showed his true colors again. During a speech at the Elko Lincoln Day dinner, Gibbons said, "those liberal, tree-hugging, Birkenstock-wearing, hippie, tie-dyed liberals would be put to death at the hands of Saddam Hussein or Osama Bin Laden." Gibbons added, "it's just too damn bad we didn't buy them a ticket to become human shields in Iraq." Days later the Elko Daily Free Press reported, Chapman's speech is 21 paragraphs in length, of which Gibbons used 15 paragraphs word-for-word in his Lincoln Day address. Gibbons admits the speech wasn't his own but adds, It expressed what I wanted to express.

(snip)

Families: Gibbons voted to cut school lunches and child support enforcement.
Education: Gibbons repeatedly opposes additional education funding, specifically for school construction and class size reduction, and has also opposed Pell grant increases for academic achievement.
Environment: Gibbons has voted against stricter drinking water standards and more fuel-efficient cars.
Health Care: Gibbons has supported blocking low cost generic drugs, and has voted to cut important programs providing health care to 100,000s of Nevadans.
Homeland Security and Veterans: Gibbons has repeatedly opposed additional funding for homeland security needs.
Seniors: Gibbons has opposed a real prescription drug benefit under Medicare and voted to prioritize tax cuts over Medicare and Social Security.
Taxes: Gibbons voted for dividend tax package, which provided 47% of Nevadans with less than $100 in tax cuts, and 24% with no tax cut at all.

9. Well, down here in Clark County we TRIED to get Dina
in . . . guess too many people in the rest of the state thought she "talked funny."

sigh.

So, if Gibbons is removed, we get -- Brian Krolicki. woo f'ing hoo.

But he won't be removed, not even if he's freakin' indicted. No way our legislature would impeach and I don't know that we could get the 25% we'd need for recall.

sigh.

11. FBI looks into whether Nevada governor reported gifts

FBI looks into whether Nevada governor reported gifts
Associated Press

CARSON CITY, NEV. — The FBI is investigating whether Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons failed to properly report gifts or payments from a software company awarded secret military contracts when he was in Congress.

The newly elected Republican governor denied any wrongdoing. "They can look as deeply as they need to and I encourage them to do so, but there would have been absolutely no influence," he said.

A federal law enforcement official confirmed the FBI probe Thursday. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation, said the inquiry is focusing on what role Gibbons played in awarding contracts to eTreppid Technologies LLC and if he received any gifts in exchange.

Gibbons said he had not been contacted by the FBI regarding his contacts with Warren Trepp, a longtime friend and owner of eTreppid who contributed nearly $100,000 to Gibbons' campaign for governor.

"I don't think that I have done anything that hasn't been done by others, which is opening doors for businesses in the state of Nevada," Gibbons said.

13. FBI Probes Republican Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons (for corruption)
http://www.allheadlinenews.com/articles/7006488360

Carson City, NV (AHN) - In yet another corruption probe implicating an active politician, the FBI is investigating whether Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons improperly received gifts and/or payments from a software company that was granted military contracts while Gibbons was in Congress.

Gibbons, a Republican who left the House last year after being elected governor of Nevada, is denying any wrongdoing in the FBI-led probe into his role in awarding contracts to eTreppid Technologies. Before becoming governor, Gibbons served five years in Congress where he was on the House Intelligence and Armed Services committees.

According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, Gibbons asked the House ethics committee in November for an opinion about whether he improperly reported private jet flights and a Caribbean cruise paid for by businessman Warren Trepp, owner of eTreppid Technologies LLC, and a longtime friend of Jim Gibbons.

Trepp, whose Reno-based company has received millions of dollars worth of classified federal software contracts from the Air Force, U.S. Special Operations Command and the Central Intelligence Agency, has reportedly contributed nearly $100,000 to Gibbons' campaign for governor.

14. Dang, I wish they'd have investigated Gov. Huckabee of Arkansas.
God, he's an immoral, money and favor-grubbing ass! Being a glib Baptist minister, though, he got away with so much crap during his terms in office!
