US alleges Hicks collected embassy intelligence
By Kim Landers

... Hicks is facing charges of providing material support for terrorism and attempted murder, and now the US military has released charge sheets backing up that case ...

He allegedly personally collected intelligence on the US Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, and was trained in covert photography, the use of dead drops and the use of disguises.

The charge sheet also alleges Hicks later armed himself with 300 rounds of ammunition as he prepared to fight against coalition forces at the Kandahar airport.

Hicks, originally from Adelaide, has been held at the Guantanamo Bay prison in Cuba since 2002 ...

1. So why did it take this long to charge him with these crimes?
This is ridiculous.

4. Why did it take this long?
Because the US military lacks imagination and they had to get help from Doug Feith!

5. These were test cases intended to see if they could establish a parallel executive court system.
They will only charge them when the heat on them becomes unbearable. Congress changing hands altered the likelihood of their succeeding, although Congress needs to act now.

3. US releases more details of case against Hicks
THE US military has released new details about David Hicks' alleged movements in Afghanistan before his capture in late 2001. The evidence alleges Hicks travelled between Pakistan and Afghanistan before and after the September 11 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington DC.

The allegations will be used to prosecute the accused Australian terrorist at his military commission trial, which could begin in June.

The evidence, contained in charge sheets released by the US Department of Defence, alleges Hicks travelled between Pakistan and Afghanistan before and after the September 11 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington DC.
