Rice ties war debate to democracy doubts

By ANNE GEARAN, AP Diplomatic Writer 1 hour, 31 minutes ago

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Secretary of State
Condoleezza Rice told government leaders Saturday that the contentious debate in Washington over
President Bush's war strategy reflects U.S. doubts that democracy will take hold in Iraq.

The chief U.S. diplomat, on an unannounced visit to the capital, acknowledged that people in both countries are impatient about signs of progress in post-
Saddam Hussein Iraq.

"The American people want to see results and can't wait forever," she told reporters after meeting with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and other officials in his government.

The Bush administration so far has spent more than $350 billion on the war and reconstruction. More than 3,100 U.S. troops have died in the conflict.

Despite impatience with the war effort, she said, that does not mean the United States can or should demand that Iraqis "get it done at once."

1. I am having my doubts about democracy in the USA, especially with the dictator-in-chief.

What about our war debate and its effect? No democracy there.

2. Don't know if it's just me, but Rice appears increasingly besides the point.
Her public statements on this trip seem more of the string of "yes, but" comments she has made recently. There's nothing there, there. Diplomacy by photo op grows old for both our country and Iraq, as well as the world.

3. Shifting blame, positions, doubletalk.
She toured the US trying to scare up support for the unjustified attack, with imagery of mushroom clouds over American cities. Part of the team that assured us of the threat (lies) and that we'd be welcomed as liberators and that democracy would spread throughout the mid east as a result.

Now she's suddenly on the side of the American people, saying we won't wait forever, that we need to see results?

We go in, on lies, kill hundreds of thousands, torture others, wreck their country, and now blame them for the mess.

I can only shake my head. This bloody warmonger needs to be sitting in federal prison alongside the rest of the criminal bush regime for crimes against humanity.

4. Why doesn't the silly assclown just keep her mouth shut? Condoleezza's
career had peaked and she had surpassed her abilities by the time Exxon named an oil taker in her "honor. It's been downhill for her ever since.

5. What exactly is her job, anyway?
She makes no sense at all.
