Rice to brief Jordan monarch on peace bid
Rice to brief Jordan monarch on peace bid

AMMAN (AFP) - US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was heading to Jordan to brief King Abdullah II on her efforts to revive the Middle East peace process after talks with Israeli and Palestinian leaders failed to make any significant headway.

The Jordanian monarch will also meet Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas, who is en route for Europe to seek support for a unity government between his Fatah faction and the ruling Hamas party, boycotted by the West as a terror group.

Both Rice and Abbas will brief the king on the tripartite talks with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert held in Jerusalem on Monday about a US push to kickstart long-stalled Middle East peace talks, a royal court official said Tuesday.

Monday's summit was complicated by a power-sharing deal reached earlier this month between Fatah and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and yielded few concrete results.

1. And help him select some new shoes.
She might as well use what little expertise she has while there.
