Ex-Senate leader Daschle endorses Obama

Ex-Senate leader Daschle endorses Obama
February 21, 2007

WASHINGTON --Sen. Barack Obama won the endorsement Wednesday of former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, who said the White House hopeful "personifies the future of Democratic leadership in our country."

Daschle said Obama has a "great capacity to unify our country and inspire a new generation of young Americans, just as I was inspired by the Kennedys and Martin Luther King when I was young."

Obama began his term in the Senate after Daschle lost his seat in 2004. But the South Dakotan served in the Senate with several of the other Democratic presidential hopefuls, including Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, Joe Biden of Delaware, Chris Dodd of Connecticut and John Edwards, a former lawmaker.

Daschle said the party was "very fortunate to have an extraordinary field of candidates."

1. Good for Daschle--and I Won't Hold It Against Obama, Either!
I'm starting to get sold on the Senator from Illinois!

2. Remember when, in 2003, all the Democratic "who is who"
supported Dean?

9. That didn't help Dean very much and he took off from campaigning
here in Iowa to do that.

3. this is HUGE, senator Daschle refused to vote for the war
He refused to put the troops in harm's way.

AirForce 1 logged many trips to South Dakota as * lied again and again to the people of SD.

They railroaded Tom because he didn't go along for the ride.

His endorsement is early to come about, but not surprising, IMHO.

7. Daschle voted "yea" on the Iraq Use of Force Resolution
but this is an interesting and unexpected endorsement...won't necessarily mean much, but still maybe Daschle's own political views have changed...I would have expected a Hillary endorsement....

13. In his first setback in his run for the White House...
Senator Barack Obama recieved the endorsement of former Senate Tom Daschle. Just kidding, or not? :D

Anyways, Daschle could help his campaign because Tom knows alot of people from Washington who could help Obama.

:kick:
