Brush Fire Burns In Hollywood Hills Near Barham Boulevard

Fire are battling a brush fire Friday afternoon in the Hollywood Hills.

The fire is burning in Dark Canyon in the 3600 block of Barham Boulevard.

The road is a heavily used connection between Hollywood and the San Fernando Valley. NewsChopper 4's Justin Jaeger said traffic is slow on Barham Boulevard and the nearby 101 Freeway.

Ron Myer of the Los Angeles City Fire Department said the fire is sending a heavy plume of smoke that can be seen in the Valley and Los Angeles basin.

1. I was just watching it on CNN

The plume of smoke is huge, but so far there is no word of damage or evacuations. But yikes. :(

2. Watching from my office window right now

It's on the other side of the hill from the sign, which is in plain view for me right now. Miles away, but you never know about these things. It would have to cross the peak and go down the other side of the hill to get to the sign.

and its progression north. Looks like the homes south of the Hollywood ridge will be OK.
