(Sen) Chambliss says Iraq progress "truly amazing"
Source: AP

WASHINGTON Senator Saxby Chambliss said today that he found "truly amazing" progress during a trip to Iraq this weekend.
Despite a particularly deadly month for U-S soldiers in April, the Republican from Moultrie said he is optimistic that the ongoing military offensive can quell violence and stabilize the government.

Chambliss spoke to reporers in a conference call after his fifth visit to Iraq. He said it is "very encouraging" to sse the progress in the country.

...

Chambliss acknowledged today that what he called "challenges" persist, particularly on the political side. But citing progress in the city of Ramadi west of Baghdad, he expressed confidence that the military strategy of rooting out insurgents and "holding" unstable areas would work.

he smeared max cleland, an actual war hero.
yet hes a chickenshit chickenhawk that wouldnt know what was going on if he actually saw it but which he probably didnt.

""In the 1960s, during the Vietnam War, Chambliss was given a student deferment so he could attend law school. After that, he received a medical deferment (4-F) because of a bad knee""

he won in georgia thanks to diebold, when, despite polling that showed cleland up by a goodly margin it was surprisingly reversed when the votes came in.

'rob georgia'.

chambliss is scum.

19. Sorry, that just won't happen until we get rid of these damn Diebold machines...
...and they have already locked them in for 2008. I think they said they "might" test more paper printers in 2008, but with ALL of our State government now controlled by Diebold sElected Legislatures, that probably won't happen either.

We need Federal Help here, but I don't see that happening before 2009.:argh:

If we actually had our Votes counted here in Georgia, there is NO WAY he would have been elected, and would be long gone by now.

9. Darn the luck!
It seems there was room in the story for this paragraph:

"Chambliss said in January that he expected to see quick results from President Bush's decision to send a surge of soldiers into the war. As the new troops began hitting the ground, April saw an increase in American deaths, with 104 soldiers killed, the highest number since December. At the same time, a series of suicide bombings recently have killed hundreds of civilians, and there are signs that the nation's fledgling government may be fracturing."

But there wasn't enough room for Chambliss to list any of the amazing progress he saw - or maybe that was it?

10. ". . .citing progress in the city of Ramadi. . ." Did he actually go there?
or did he just spout some talking-point bullshit while sitting on his ass in "Emerald City" (aka The Green Zone) in Baghdad?

Gotta also wonder where that conference call actually came from.

14. I want specifics
I need to hear more about "progress". What does that even mean? To me progress means not tripping over dead bodies. With 105 soldiers killed in the month his standards of progress must be pretty low. "Today, 100 Iraqis were able to pat their heads and rub their bellies at the same time. Yay!"

messages of how much I detest his positions on EVERYTHING, but he continues to send nice letters back answering lots of questions I didn't ask, but none that I did!

I scream every time I see his mug standing behind Shrub at some signing celebration, and you will notice...he's ALWAYS THERE!

God, I hope the Ga. Dems find a knife weilding opponent to run against this AH!!!!!

17. Guess Chambliss wasn't trailing along with Sen. Snowe. Can't find much on Saxby's comments, but a
lot of stories out there on what Snowe saw and said.

http://www.boston.com/news/local/maine/articles/2007/05/05/snowe_fellow_senate_intelligence_committee_members_visit_iraq/

Snowe was visiting Iraq over the weekend with Republican Sens. Kit Bond of Missouri and Saxby Chambliss of Georgia, who serve with Snowe on the Senate Intelligence Committee. U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., who is on the House Intelligence Committee, was also on the trip.

The group arrived Saturday and met with U.S. military commanders, U.S. troops and Iraqi officials. They planned to return to Washington on Monday.

On Saturday, Snowe said she met with a number of soldiers from Maine and asked them about their mission. One soldier, she said, told her that his Humvee had been hit three times by roadside bombs.

http://pressherald.mainetoday.com/news/state/070506snoweuse.html
Snowe is scheduled to return from Iraq on Monday. She stayed in Baghdad's Green Zone Saturday night and was scheduled to tour areas outside the capital.

http://www.bangordailynews.com/news/t/news.aspx?articleid=149530&zoneid=500

Speaking with reporters during a satellite telephone press conference, Snowe, R-Maine, said she found little to be cheerful about after her first full day on the ground as a member of a Senate Intelligence Committee fact-finding tour.

"The good news is mixed; the bad news is downright troubling," Snowe said during the interview.

is: When the embarrassment in the WH dumps this war on the next president (who will be a Dem) he can say "well, WE were making progress and now it's a mess. YOU messed it up."
