Democrats berate president's global warming plan
Source: Associated Press

Democrats say President Bush's newest strategy to combat global warming is "shifting from denial to delay."

The president proposed this week that the US and other nations that spew the most greenhouse gases meet and set a long-term strategy for reducing emissions. Each country -- including India and China -- would set goals on how to improve energy security, reduce air pollution and cut greenhouse gases over the next couple of decades.

In the Democrats' weekly radio address, Congressman Ed Markey of Massachusetts said the proposal "guarantees" the president will make the US contribution to global warming "considerably worse than when he took office."

Markey, who recently traveled to Greenland to see melting glaciers, says "The world is running a fever, and there are no hospitals to care for Mother Earth."

1. Good for you, Rep Markey, for speaking out on the radio and for
going to Greenland.

2. They are RIGHT! Just look at what he said...

..."By the end of NEXT YEAR..." they "...will set a long-term global goal..."

"...So my proposal is this: By the end of next year, America and other nations will set a long-term global goal for reducing greenhouse gases. To help develop this goal, the United States will convene a series of meetings of nations that produce most greenhouse gas emissions, including nations with rapidly growing economies like India and China...."

Well what is the "end of NEXT year"??? December 2008?!?! Well that would be the right about the time the NEXT President takes over, wouldn't it?! And it's not even a PLAN, it's a GOAL!

5. Well, that's what the Dems are saying. We'll keep our heads down. . .

. . .until this criminally insane president leaves office 86 weeks from now. We'll keep "berating" while Bush and Cheney steamroll us. Impeachment simply can't/won't/shouldn't happen. Our "friends" might glare at us at cocktail parties. You know, like they did when they impeached Clinton.

3. "berate"
Edited on Sat Jun-02-07 04:25 PM by FatDave
Is it just me or does that word seem a little emotionally charged to be in the headline? Democrats "berate" Bush plan? Were there headlines that said Republicans were berating Clinton during his blowjob impeachment? Did they say that republicans berated Hilary's health care plan back in the day?

I'm not saying it's not true, or that a little bearating isn't appropriate, but aren't news articles supposed to stay objective?

Edit: punctuation.

7. I take my cues from the bush:
If the bush says it will be good for air quality, I know to buy a gas mask.

If the bush says it will save me money, I tighten my belt and hide my wallet!

If the bush says that he will lower gas prices, I break out my bicycle.

If the bush says he will do something about the immigration issue, I grow concerned for the immigrants.

If the bush says he will "leave no child behind" I brace for the onslaught of freepers.

When the bush claims we are making great strides in Iraq, I weep for the Iraqi people and grow angrier over the theft of their oil.

It is my greatest fear that the bush may some day tell us he will try to save Democracy!

and lest we forget: the banner over the bush's head once read "Mission Accomplished"

If it was good enough for Moses it is good enough for me, I pay close attention to the bushes!

See, easy as that.

So the bush is talking about Global Warming, "Poor Chknltl's Almanac" calls for foul weather ahead!

I soooo wish the bush would talk about....um ....well...on second thought I wish he would just shut the f**k up! :patriot:

"True Christians" know that sometimes Dubya's got to bullshit the liberal media to keep them from taking to the streets...
