Bush, Harper, Calderon to tackle economy, security

By Louise Egan 23 minutes ago

MONTEBELLO, Quebec (Reuters) - North America's leaders gather at a Canadian resort to promote integrated trade and security on Monday, a plan protesters outside the meeting say tramples on the rights of ordinary citizens.

U.S. President George W. Bush will also review the credit crunch and global market turmoil with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Mexican President Felipe Calderon at the two-day summit in Montebello, Quebec.

They are meeting as partners in the North American Free Trade Agreement, or NAFTA, to develop what they have called a Security and Prosperity Partnership, or SPP.

That was drafted in 2005 after the September 11 attacks on the United States in 2001 to try to ensure that North America is a safe place to live and do business. The seemingly innocuous move has upset activists on the left and the right who are concerned about a loss of national sovereignty.

1. Another reason to support Dennis!
He'll opt out of NAFTA and the WTO by sending the withdrawl notice to Canada and Mexico in the first week of his administration!

Go Dennis!

3. Make that the "Three Diablos"
The Council of Canadians, an advocacy group that I'm proud to belong to is doing admirable work in publicizing the perils of these conferences. They have big protests planned too unfortunately its on the other side of the country so I can't attend.

7. Covert military exercises in the far north aimed against Russia...
could very well be on the agenda. I would bet on it. They've been flexng their muscle a lot militarily. Both with their long range bombers and their shopping expedition for territory in the arctic.

snip

Exercise Vigilant Shield 07, currently scheduled to culminate December 4-14, is described in this year's "Exercise Plan" (thanks PR for providing the documents) as an opportunity to "train and exercise" NORTHCOM and U.S.-Canadian NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) components in all aspects of homeland defense.

The exercise run concurrently with "Terminal Fury 07," a Pacific Command (PACOM) exercise focused on North Korea; "Global Lightning 07," a Strategic Command (STRATCOM) exercise focused on command and control of U.S. nuclear and conventional forces, and "Positive Response 07-1," a national-level continuity of operations exercise of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) is also participating in the "maritime defense" portions of the exercise, and other U.S. government agencies such as the Department of Energy are involved in the nuclear weapons aspects.

I wrote last year about Vigilant Shield 06, which involved World War III with "Slomonia," a thinly veiled Russia adopted a more aggressive foreign policy towards the west and eventually attacked the United States.

This year's Vigilant Shield stars Nemazee, a thinly veiled North Korea; Irmingham, which is Iran; Ruebek, which is Russia; and Churya, which is China. According to briefing documents from the Vigilant Shield planning conference:

http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=4730

Let's not kid ourselves. The U.S. will require support for any massive missile program. Star Wars or whatever they call it now.
Putin and Bush no longer trust each other now. Especially since Bush started courting Eastern Europe and putting up missile defense systems aimed right at Russia.
Talk on energy equals nuclear program no doubt.

6. But unlike the REAL "Three Amigos", I'll bet they won't even have the courtesy
to at least give the citizens of all three countries the Three Amigos Salute when they announce it at their joint press conference. Hmmmmmph.

24. Evetually, but the poeple born in freedom will have to grow old and die
before the Royal and Loyal Bushies move on to the Final Phase of Tranistion to Tyranny.

And Bushler's Anschluss is either scheduled for then, or like so many other Nazi-like things the Bushies do, just change enough of the details that it's not really Anschluss at all.

Just like the Unitary Executive Theory is no different than Fuehrerprinzip, but it is...you know, because no one is wearing swastika armbands, so it's OK.

4. Bush is now live on my local TV station.
I hate the idea of him being here.
I hate the idea that Harper will lick his shoes.
I hate the idea that the only guests are corporate moguls and rubber stampers.

Know that some protesters won't stay caged.

I don't want anybody to get hurt but I sure wish they are going to disturb their meeting.

I would have been there but... no money and the event is about 6 hours of driving distance from my place.

This is being fast-tracked, people. And most US-based Americans are clueless.

CNN's Lou Dobbs reveals illegal political-military-industrial elite agenda to destroy Canada,US,Mexico, February 23, 2007 (Much information in this thread)

AGENCY BACKS OPENING BORDER TO LONG-HAUL MEXICAN TRUCKS, August 19, 2007

WASHINGTON – A federal transportation agency yesterday defended President Bush's plan to open the border to long-haul Mexican truck traffic in a response to overwhelmingly negative public views of the proposal.

The 27-page defense appearing in the Federal Register advances the controversial cross-border trucking pilot program one step closer to implementation.

Bush has sought to conduct the program as part of his effort to comply with a provision of the North American Free Trade Agreement requiring the United States and Mexico to open their borders to each other's commercial trucks.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, which would conduct the program, acknowledged that the vast majority of the more than 2,300 public comments it received were opposed to the proposed one-year experiment. .....

Bush, Harper, Calderon to tackle economy, security, August 20, 2007

MONTEBELLO, Quebec (Reuters) - North America's leaders gather at a Canadian resort to promote integrated trade and security on Monday, a plan protesters outside the meeting say tramples on the rights of ordinary citizens.
U.S. President George W. Bush will also review the credit crunch and global market turmoil with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Mexican President Felipe Calderon at the two-day summit in Montebello, Quebec.

Fences 3 meters (10 feet) high were erected around the hotel grounds to keep away anti-capitalist protesters expected to descend on Montebello, about 70 km (40 miles) east of Ottawa.
Convoys of school buses from Montreal and Ottawa were expected to bring some 2,000 protesters to the site shortly before the meetings begin.

The SPP's critics say the talks are being carried out behind the backs of ordinary citizens and without any votes planned in the Canadian Parliament or U.S. Congress, yet in close consultation with corporate leaders.

"This summit represents the kinds of policies and politics that mean the entrenchment of poverty and control of people's movements," said Mandeep Dhillon of People's Global Action of Montreal. .....

Call your Senators and Representatives and the Governors of West Coast states to demand that this be halted now.

25. if it's any consolation, he probably realizes just how much Quebec loves him ...
Pas de tout!

He had the most sour, resentful expression on his face when he was getting off the plane yesterday, and his posture was even stiffer and more awkward than usual. I noticed that he was really rushing to get past the reception line as soon as possible -- stepping out in front of the Governor-General.

It warmed my heart to see so many protesters out to greet him ... and the CBC spent more time interviewing them than it did on Bush's arrival.
