Russian clinic releases activist

Source: BBC

A Russian opposition activist, Larisa Arap, has been discharged from a psychiatric clinic where colleagues said she had been imprisoned.

Ms Arap, 48, was sent to the clinic in the northern region of Murmansk on 5 July. She later went on hunger strike.

Her case was taken up by human rights defenders, who saw in it echoes of the Soviet-era practice of locking up dissidents in psychiatric hospitals.

...

Ms Arap had told the Western media and fellow activists she was being forcibly held at the clinic. She also claimed to have been injected with drugs against her will.

Well yes, I'm a bit prejudiced against Putin's Russia. UK media are perhaps thought to be partial in Russian matters.
Let's say all the media in the whole world - except those shut down by Czar Putin -, when it comes to Russia, are prejudiced.

Although it would be easier to say Russia lacks in democracy and Putin would deserve as many as all the anti-Bush posts we have here on DU. Because we're Democratic and we want Democracy everywhere.

"PutinBushism" calls it one friend here on DU. Perfect label for this journalistic era.

1. It's not "Zar" but Tsar or Czar
A shortened form of "Ceasar".

though he quotes Caligula instead.

"Let them hate us, as long as they fear us"

A good friend of Bush, naturally.
And, yes, he's a media owner, controls three national private TV stations, a large number of papers and magazines, and owns an Italian premier league football team (Milan).
More than once has fired out directors who didn't fit his political views and strategies, as he is also the leader of a strong political Party.
He was Prime minister, too. And that twice...

Oh my God! That he may be really God's anointed?

7. Silvio Berlusconi? My folks were visiting our cousins last summer and told stories
They thought him a real jackass...and that's coming from (albeit educated) Middle Americans.

I see you're in Abruzzi. That's where my cousins live!
