2. They say they can't identify the offspring of the infected cow?
Can't they test DNA?

They had to have a tissue sample of the infected cow to begin with, in order to determine it had BSE?
I don't know, it sounds weird to me...

10. It is probably cheaper...

13. Because these young calves are being trained for "veal dinners"
and are very weak and have a hard time standing. The calves are penned in a very small area. The calves are not allowed to have mommy cow around to feed 'em. If most knew the process they wouldn't eat veal.

So these little fellows act like they may have downers. "Shoot 'em"

that the USDA has refused to say what they will be doing with the calves' dead bodies.

The public has a right to know what the disposal method will be.

22. they are doing
the exact same thing Canada did with their "one cow".

The thing is, that herd was not raised all at the same time as this particular "mad cow" so why destroy the whole herd? It will test negative.
It's a ploy to prove that it is "just one cow"

They can't find DNA because it was a LIE that this "mad cow" came from Canada. Canadian DNA tests came back negative. So, I guess they have to blame another Canadian herd.
Not that it matters, because the rendering company in Edmonton that makes this tainted animal protein feed for cattle is an American owned
company anyway.
The TRUTH is, the cattle industry between the USA and Canada is a North American industry, highly integrated. Canada sends 1.7 million cattle to the USA every year., so does Mexico (one million)
Canadian and American fed bans and practices are virtually identical because of this fact.

The FACT is, the industry MUST stop feeding animals back to animals, PERIOD. too bad if a few billionares loose a bit of money. At least people won't DIE because of their greed.
Our customers demand we test ALL cattle. The customer is always right...
If the cattle industry won't ban feeding proteins and do testing on all cattle for it's own people, at least you can bet they will for the foriegn customers.

or the cattle industry -- I don't believe that we will get the truth from any of these interests, as well as many others.

How many other downed or sick cows have just been quietly discarded with no one knowing the better? How many of those had Mad Cow?

What happens when more Mad Cow cases eventually come to light? What will be the excuse then?

Edited on Mon Jan-05-04 09:36 PM by Venomous_Rhetoric
When they slaughter those 450 cows, put down bids on the carcasses, they will test negative, and you will have 450 tested and proven BSE free meat. you could make a fortune....

eablair3, "How many other downed or sick cows have just been quietly discarded with no one knowing the better? How many of those had Mad Cow?"

You will never know. They aren't "discarded" either, you probably ate them. Downer cattle are(were up till a few days ago)Processed and packed just like regular 'healthy' cattle. They don't test every downer cow. they test 20,000 out of 200,000 downer cows per year. they don't test ANY "healthy" cattle, although it is known that BSE infected cattle can appear perfectly health till the day they drop.

24. as long as they feed cows to cows we will be in trouble
Who's accountable?
The common practice is to use cow blood as the main protein source in cow feed.
It's illegal but who is prosecuted?
Alot of people could die--sometimes it can take 40 years before symptoms appear.
What are we gojng to do if half the U.S. poulation starts dropping from hamburgers they ate at the local fastfood drivethru?
Are we going to wait for that?
These greedy bastards in the feed business need to be held accountable.

27. Wrong
"The common practice is to use cow blood as the main protein source in cow feed.

The use of cow blood is LEGAL! The use of rendered pigs, chickens turkey parts, who have been fed cow bits, is LEGAL
Who is accountable for this? the lawmakers! the FDA the USDA, both of which are run by former members of the cattlemens assic. the rendering assoc, etc.
The (unelected) government departments in charge is run by representatives of the organizations it's supposed to control.
Kinda like the fox watching the henhouse.
