U.S. kills 7 top al-Qaida leaders in Iraq

BAGHDAD, 1 (UPI) -- The U.S. military said Monday troops killed seven suspected terrorists and captured 11 others in raids aimed at disrupting al-Qaida in Iraq's leadership.

A military statement said the operations were carried out Sunday and Monday near the cities of Tarmiyah, Mosul and Baghdad, as well as in Diyala province.

The military also found weapons and explosives during the operations, a military statement said.
