3. They have to pay actual damages
Punitives are to punish the guilty and are not related to actual damages. Actual damages: lost wages, emotional distress, etc.

Jury is still considering actual damages.

Stephan Marbary is a scumbag.

5. MSG has been found liable as well - AND for punitive damages.
Edited on Tue Oct-02-07 12:03 PM by DinahMoeHum
presumably for tolerating this shit.

I assume "MSG" includes Jim Dolan - a useless douchebag of an owner if ever I saw one.

6. Deeper pockets
of MSG maybe decided the jury to lay the financial off on them instead of Thomas as an individual. He was convicted; as was MSG maybe they will be easier to collect from.

7. Updated: $11.6 million in damages assessed against MSG and owner Dolan
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071002/ap_on_sp_bk_ne/bkn_knicks_thomas_harassment_suit

(snip)
The jury, which decided MSG had committed harassment against Browne Sanders, found that the Garden owes $6 million for allowing a hostile work environment to exist and
$2.6 million for retaliation.
MSG chairman James Dolan owes $3 million.
(snip)

The jury went after the deep pockets on this one.
