Artist Protests ‘Iraq War Apathy’ with Prince Harry Statue
Source: California Newswire

NEW YORK and LONDON, England — Prince Harry is the symbolic hero of a monument encouraging empathy for the Iraq War in the latest work by controversial New York sculptor, Daniel Edwards. The statue featuring Prince Harry will be unveiled at London’s Trafalgar Hotel October 11th during the Bridge Art Fair, courtesy of Capla Kesting Fine Art of Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Edwards, known for his previous works which include a nude Britney Spears giving birth on a bearskin rug, an interactive autopsy of Paris Hilton with removable organs, and a cleavage revealing Hillary Clinton as President elect of the 2008 election, suggests “There seems to be an increasing apathy in regard to the war in Iraq. Maybe this monument can inspire more people to speak up, and pay closer attention to the war.”

“Prince Harry was willing to join the war effort and, in the process, encouraged others to become more involved,” says David Kesting of Capla Kesting Fine Art. “This tribute recognizes Prince Harry’s contributions.”

The gallery has also provided the website www.PrinceHarryMemorial.com to give people a forum for expressing their thoughts concerning the war. “We would like to see people fight the growing apathy,” says Capla Kesting’s John Leo.

2. No he wasn't.
John Lennon pushed the artistic limits for his day, like these artists are doing now. Good for them.

12. Limited musical taste?
I don't consider shrieking to be music, or Revolution 9 for that matter.

Now if you want to get into Duke Ellington, Coltrane, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Metallica, ACDC, Queen, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Wings, Yes just to name a few and say that's limited musical taste be my guest.

Nice job assuming that I like the modern poppy stuff, I refuse to listen to it. But then again that's what happens when you get too wrapped up in yourself and don't consider that maybe your way isn't the right way.

And I don't see artistic apathy in that sculpture, from a technical standpoint it is amazing and the symbolism involved strikes a chord and has a very direct and pointed message. Now if you want to set that next to, say, Duchamp hanging a snow shovel on a wall and praise the latter which needs a bs justification to fly and call the former something that is not art then be my guest, but don't assuming that your taste is somehow superior to someone else's because they don't agree with you for their own reasons.

15. My aren't we elitist tonight?
So tell me why did you not respond to the rest of my post? Maybe because you have nothing to address it with?

And I stand by what I said, Revolution 9 was just plain ridiculous and that's not even going into the other stuff Ono did, not including how much a mess she made John.

And if you have issues with someone who likes his rock, and has more than mentioned as I did previously, then go ahead. Just don't trip over your ego.
