Sen. Craig to join Idaho Hall of Fame
Posted 20m ago

BOISE (AP) — Sen. Larry Craig will be inducted into the Idaho Hall of Fame next week, despite his well-publicized arrest and guilty plea in an airport sex sting, officials said.
The non-profit Idaho Hall of Fame Association picked Craig in March, months before he pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct after a Minneapolis airport police officer accused him of soliciting sex in the men's restroom, the organization's board chairman said.

"Larry Craig has made a great contribution to Idaho over the period of 20-some years. At the time it was considered, this other matter had not come up," Harry Magnuson told The Spokesman-Review newspaper.

But some Republicans said the honor is inappropriate now. Kootenai County Republican precinct committeeman Phil Thompson said Idaho Hall of Fame officials should consider at least postponing the induction.

37. But it doesn't say HOW the famer must be depicted, does it?
I envison row after row of Idaho statesmen, Idaho business leaders, and the other Idaho notables all standing there looking properly solemn and distinguished.

Then, you come to the Larry Craig exhibit:

Just a reproduction of a stall with the door closed and a plaque that says nothing more than "Larry Craig, inducted 2007." If you glance downward, you see nothing but two feet in Florsheim wingtips -- one of which is tapping, naturally. They don't even need to spring for a full body reproduction! Don't need Madame Tussaud or Walt Disney or any audio-anamatronics or anything. Just the stall with one foot tapping visible underneath the door.

BTW, if the Hall of Fame decides to use this idea, I expect payment for creative services rendered. Unmarked twenties will be fine.

19. Non-Profit Hall of Fame???????
I think the Idaho Non-Profit Hall of Fame, as it is described, should actually be the Idaho Non-Compus Mentus Hall of Fame (sic?) and FOX News Chris Wallace should also be ensconced there for his outrageous question to Nancy Pelosi intimating that she might actually pray for US troops to lose in Iraq. God, what a bonehead he is.

We are happy you are with us. But Idaho has problems. You know, it's amazing. I consider myself very politically informed, but Larry Craig is just about as anonymous as any senator in history. Until now. What a bizarre individual. Are there any normal politicians in Idaho? (You know, inept and immoral, but typical).

I mean come on the guy is a joke and they are still going ahead with this?
He has brought nothing but shame and embarrassment to his state with his flip flopping what with his saying he was resigning then saying he would wait till his appeal was done but now that its done he wont resign.
Anyway I look forward to the 2008 election in his state and I hope the democrats use him as a drum during the election and that a good democrat can take his seat.
Edit: Though I would even settle for a decent independant.

36. Isn't it awe-inspiring to learn Larry Craig will be sharing the Hall of Fame with Chief Joseph,
Nez Perce Tribe?

Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce tribe in the Wallowa Valley had the Native American name of Thunder Rolling Down the Mountain but was called Joseph after his father. He was born in 1840 and lived at a difficult time for his tribe--his father Joseph the Elder had told him to defend his grave and not to sell their 7.7 million acres of land in three Pacific Northwest states that had been negotiated with the US Government. Chief Joseph would not sell the land, but it was taken from them as they were told they must move to a smaller reservation in Idaho.

Chief Joseph had agreed to relocate to the smaller reservation because he did not want to go to war over land, but a few Nez Perce men killed white settlers over it. Joseph ended up leading his people in a great retreat toward Canada that impressed General Howard. In the end, Chief Joseph had to give up on the retreat. His words from the surrender are still remembered today:

"Tell General Howard I know his heart. What he told me before, I have it in my heart. I am tired of fighting. Our chiefs are killed; Looking Glass is dead, Too-hul-hul-sote is dead. The old men are all dead. It is the young men who say yes or no. He who led on the young men is dead. It is cold, and we have no blankets; the little children are freezing to death. My people, some of them, have run away to the hills, and have no blankets, no food. No one knows where they are—perhaps freezing to death. I want to have time to look for my children, and see how many of them I can find. Maybe I shall find them among the dead. Hear me, my chiefs! I am tired; my heart is sick and sad. From where the sun now stands, I will fight no more forever."

WILL FIGHT NO MORE FOREVER

(Surrender Speech)

by Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce

I WILL FIGHT NO MORE FOREVER -

I am tired of fighting.

Our chiefs are killed.

Looking Glass is dead.

Toohulhulsote is dead.

The old men are all dead.

It is the young men who say no and yes.

He who led the young men is dead.

It is cold and we have no blankets.

The little children are freezing to death.

My people, some of them,

Have run away to the hills

And have no blankets, no food.

No one know where they are-

Perhaps they are freezing to death.

I want to have time to look for my children

And see how many of them I can find.

Maybe I shall find them among the dead.

Hear me, my chiefs, I am tired.

My heart is sad and sick.

From where the sun now stands

I will fight no more forever. - -

THE END

Deepest, deepest apologies to Chief Joseph.
