Bin Laden may be in city, not cave - ex-spy chief (of Pakistan)
Source: Reuters

LONDON, Oct 9 (Reuters) - Osama bin Laden could hide more easily in a city than a remote tribal region, a former Pakistani intelligence chief said on Tuesday, challenging the notion that the al Qaeda leader is probably holed up in a mountain cave.

Lieutenant-General Asad Durrani, former head of the powerful Inter-Services Intelligence agency (ISI), said news of outsiders' presence travels fast in the tribal areas and it would be hard to keep it secret for years.

~snip~

This is a man on the run in a cave who is virtually impotent other than his ability to get these messages out," White House homeland security adviser Fran Townsend said last month when bin Laden issued his first new video for nearly three years.

Durrani said an urban centre could provide a better refuge.

"Why not a big city? Anywhere in Pakistan, Afghanistan. Anywhere outside the region where it is easier to keep cover," he said. "These are the places where you can hide yourself much better."

2. Most experts..
Most experts have been saying for years now that he is more likely in large city instead of being out in the boonies. The reasons are simple, more people, easier to hide. Since the man has to keep in touch with his organization being out in tim buc too is a very foolish option. Because that would mean you would have countless runners on motor bikes or cars going back and forth which is easy to spot.

Better to be in a crowded city where the odds are greatly in your favor.

3. After seeing an early video, someone said "I wish I could get my whites that white"
She was being skeptical about Osama living in a cave. LOL, I always remembered that. Maybe he's at the laundromat right now, putting a load through tumble dry.

Translation of Funeral Article in Egyptian Paper:
al-Wafd, Wednesday, December 26, 2001 Vol 15 No 4633

News of Bin Laden's Death
and Funeral 10 days ago

Islamabad -
A prominent official in the Afghan Taleban movement announced yesterday the death of Osama bin Laden, the chief of al-Qa'da organization, stating that binLaden suffered serious complications in the lungs and died a natural and quiet death. The official, who asked to remain anonymous, stated to The Observer of Pakistan that he had himself attended the funeral of bin Laden and saw his face prior to burial in Tora Bora 10 days ago. He mentioned that 30 of al-Qa'da fighters attended the burial as well as members of his family and some friends from the Taleban. In the farewell ceremony to his final rest guns were fired in the air. The official stated that it is difficult to pinpoint the burial location of bin Laden because according to the Wahhabi tradition no mark is left by the grave. He stressed that it is unlikely that the American forces would ever uncover any traces of bin Laden.

GUPTA: You can look December 2001 video] and notice that he has
what some doctors refer to as sort of a frosting
over of his features -- his sort of grayness of
beard, his paleness of skin, very gaunt sort of
features. A lot of times people associate this with
chronic illness. Doctors can certainly look at that
and determine some clinical features.

But even more than that, it's sometimes possible
to differentiate the specific type of disease or
illness that he may be suffering from. The sort of
frosting of the appearance is something that
people a lot of times associate with chronic
kidney failure, renal failure, certainly someone
who is requiring dialysis would have that.

He's also not moving his arms. I looked at this
tape all the way through its entire length. He never
moved his left arm at all. The reason that might
be important is because people who have had a
stroke -- and certainly people are at increased risk
of stroke if they also have kidney failure -- he
may have had a stroke and therefore is not
moving his left side. And in the rest of the
videotape, he does move his right side a little bit
more than he does his left. So those are some of
the things that are sort of "of note" here in this
more recent videotape.

The Israeli sources said Israel and the United States assess that Bin
Laden probably died in the U.S. military campaign in Afghanistan in
December. They said the emergence of new messages by Bin Laden are
probably fabrications, Middle East Newsline reported.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (CNN) --Pakistan's president says he thinks
Osama bin Laden is most likely dead because the
suspected terrorist has been unable to get treatment for
his kidney disease.

"I think now, frankly, he is dead for the reason he is a ...
kidney patient," Gen. Pervez Musharraf said on Friday in an
interview with CNN.

12. Thank you very much for your post
There are a few articles on the net that are similar to the 1st one you posted.

Why anyone still believes OBL is alive puzzles me. He was well known for his giant ego. I have read articles by John P.O'Neill stating just that.

Yet, OBL claimed he was not responsible for 9/11. He strongly wanted the infidel's military out of Saudi Arabia, which can to be after 9/11. So why din't he take responsibility for the attacks?

Methinks it is because he was not. Bush et al simply needed a bogeyman to blame.

Fat or skinny, IMHO, the videos presented after December 2001 are all fakes.

22. OBL denied any responsibility on 9/12/2001. Just
re-watched the msnbc airing on 9/11 of 9/11. I heard it then also.

And Israel reported his death also.
