Dick Cheney Disagreed With President Bush Over Donald Rumsfeld Dismissal
Source: Fox "News"

Dick Cheney disagreed with President Bush over the president's decision last year to remove Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld from office, the vice president told FOX News in an exclusive interview.

Cheney said despite Rumsfeld's controversial handling of the war in Iraq, the secretary of defense was managing the war successfully.

Speaking openly with Bret Baier in the new documentary, "Dick Cheney: No Retreat," the vice president said he "thought that in terms of the way forward, Don was the right guy to continue to lead the Department of Defense."

...

"Well, the way I put is, is that he wished Secretary Rumsfeld hadn't left, and wished to see him remain as the secretary of defense," Bush said, adding, "He's telling you the truth. And that's, that's the truth.”

6. Ding ding we have a winner
The poor little boy king is in need of an image upgrade and what could make him look better than making a decision in defiance of his puppet master. wouldn't surprise me if this was orchestrated by the dick himself to keep the little twit off guard. Also wouldn't surprise me if rummy is still in the middle of everything in a secret office inside the dick's secret bunker.

2. What an odd story coming from Fox.
Is Bush about to get rid of Cheney? Is Cheney about to get rid of Bush?

I have to say, in a mano-a-mano power struggle between the two, my money would be on Sneer.

Somebody wants their Iranian attack bad.

7. That's what I am thinking, an awful lot of leaks about Cheney lately.
I think little lord pissypants asked his dad to save him (after all, that is his pattern--screw things up royally and then have dad bail him out). That's why Rove and Gonzo are gone. I think Cheney is being neutered by B$sh senior with all these leaks and is being shut out. Of course, I'm an eternal optimist!

13. It's particularly odd considering ...

It's particularly odd considering they said Rumsfeld resigned. Oh that must be the decision to allow Rumsfeld to resign as if their was some type of blood debt owed to the Bush Crime Family that had to be released.

3. Gee, how shocking. NOT.
They were White House pals together, many decades ago during Nixon-Ford. They both dreamed up this "Let's run the gubmint using a moron puppet" deal.

They are neighbors in St. Michaels, MD.

Separated at birth, those two....

12. oh definitely Rummy was Cheney's mentor.

these thugs were planning a takeover of the government together. Cheney has clear disdain for the Congress, and wanted a President with Unitary Executive powers and not to listen to anyone not even Congress. Plus didn't John Dean say that about Cheney on Keith Olbermann.

4. How this is working out
If Bush had been 100% Cheney, thus insane, he would be sporting a crown at his execution by now. On the other hand, if he really controlled Cheney or balanced him out we wouldn't have all the incompetent disasters.

We still have the worst of both bad visions. Bush never goes completely out of it except in fits and starts and never "seems" to succeed nor lose all hope of compromising sanely with Poppy's old crew. Everyone can still say just about anything positive, negative, hopeful or despairing about the mess king, Bush. everyone gets a smile, tyranny, a war, death, black profits, ruined future, hopes for the next election, despair for the next election. This relationship with Cheney is a C+ relationship but it's the only executive game in town. Bush is a lazy self-contradicting dolt. Cheney is not POTUS. Neocons expecting triumph beyond turgid dictatorship or establishment people expecting competent sanity have nothing to expect. It will grind on ever so without strong, legal, outside intervention.

8. According to reports at the time...
Cheney begged Bush to keep Rummy, on the grounds that if Rummy went the accountability-nazis would come after him next and then Bush.

14. This talk about Bush genuinely disagreeing with Cheney about anything is pure fantasy and hogwash.
They're both the same. They're (the Republicans) are all the same.

16. Bush had no choice.
Bush had to show Don Rumsfailed the 'EXIT' sign.

Last November, when the Dem's took over, the first thing they had on their shopping list was

"Get rid of Don Rumsfailed". Notice? A week after the election, Mr. Poet was gone.

Cheney knows that, as well. They just lie all the time.
