The Teamsters union has asked the National Labor Relations Board to conduct a union election at the Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort.

Local 486, which has been attempting to organize the workers at mid-Michigan’s largest employer, announced Wednesday it has filed a formal request with the government agency to conduct the representation election.

“This petition represents the efforts of Soaring Eagle employees working with organizers and volunteers,” said Ed Morin, business agent for the Saginaw-based local. “Together, they spent hundreds of hours handbilling and in meetings soliciting the support necessary to protect the rights of their fellow employees and future employees at the Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort through a union election.”

The Teamsters have been attempting to organize the casino and hotel workers for months.
