Schwarzenegger vetoes gay marriage bill again
Source: Associated Press

19:02 PDT SACRAMENTO, (AP) -- Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Friday carried out his promise to continue to veto gay marriage bills.

The Republican governor turned down a measure by Assemblyman Mark Leno, D-San Francisco, that would have lifted the state's ban on same-sex marriages by defining marriage as a union between two persons, not just a man and a woman.

... In his veto message, Schwarzenegger said voters and the state Supreme Court should decide the issue. The high court is likely to rule next year on whether California's ban on gay marriages violates the constitution.

The governor said voters "should then determine what, if any, statutory changes are needed in response to the court's ruling."

Geoff Kors, executive director of Equality California, a gay rights group, said the veto was "hypocrisy at its worst."

3. Um, who appoints lawmakers to the Cailifornia Assembly?

I thought they were chosen by voters, but apparently that's not true... because Governor Grabbyhands says the voters have not yet been heard.

6. The voters were heard on this issue in 2000
They haven't been heard from since then, at least not directly.

5. Nonsense
This actually makes zero sense.

All I've heard from lawmakers is that they want to make the laws, and not 'activist judges'.

12. One could say the voters already made their decision known
when they reelected anyone who voted yes the first time and or elected anyone after the first time who said they support it and voted for it.
Anyway Arnold's not to bad, I disagree with him on vetoing this but on other issues like the funding of stem cell research he has shown he is not as pig headed as alot of his party who are in washington are.

13. Yep. He's not the worst his party has to offer...
...but he's still willing to sell our brothers and sisters into figurative bondage.

Their best is still pretty miserable.

14. So he wants the state Supreme Court to decide and who does he
want to have pay for that? Someone will have to file a lawsuit (has it been done in Ca. yet) and the full force of the law will come down on them to the tune of millions of dollars.
