Tibet officials "furious" at Dalai Lama's U.S. award
Tue Oct 16, 2007 2:24am EDT

BEIJING (Reuters) - Tibet officials expressed fury on Tuesday that the United States is to honor the Dalai Lama with an award and warned that the activities of his supporters were increasing in Chinese-controlled Tibet.

The Dalai Lama, who has lived in exile in India since staging a failed uprising against Chinese rule in 1959, is to receive the U.S. Congressional Gold Medal on Wednesday after being hosted at the White House by President George W. Bush.

"Such a person who basely splits his motherland and doesn't even love his motherland has been welcomed by some countries and has even been receiving this or that award," Tibet's Communist Party boss, Zhang Qingli, told reporters.

"We are furious. If the Dalai Lama can receive such an award, there must be no justice or good people in the world," Zhang said.

1. Those Tibet officials are tools.
They have the Chinese Politburo's hand firmly shoved up their ass. They are puppets.

13. Most of them actually ARE Chinese.
China has settled millions of Han colonists in Tibet over the past few decades in order to skew the demographics in the region. Most of the party officials are pulled from these settlers. They're "Tibetans" in the sense that they live in Tibet...many were even born there (settlement started decades ago), but they aren't Tibetan in the ethnic or cultural sense.

9. The Dalai Lama, George Bush, Zhang Qingli
Edited on Tue Oct-16-07 07:27 AM by tomg
It sounds like the Sesame Street Song -

One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn't belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?

Did you guess which thing was not like the others?
Did you guess which thing just doesn't belong?
If you guessed the Dalai Lama is not like the others,
Then you're absolutely...right!

Can't we get Gore to give the Dalai Lama the award. You know. One Nobel Peace Prize winner - and one displaced leader - to another. Maybe Bush can give Zhang Qingli a "An Unlawful Invasion that leads to innumerable deaths" award or something.

11. My God, ChiComs are JUST LIKE Bushies!
Amazing. The Commie response to the Dalai Lama's award is IDENTICAL to the bushies reaction to the Gore award.

Another tiny piece of circumstantial evidence in the MOUNTAINOUS PILE that suggests that the Bushies have tapped into some dark, vile heart of authoritarianism and stand foreswuare against the prinicples of the Old United States of America.

Identical responses to nearly identical situations.

And I'll be Commie State Media is doing to the Dalai Lama on all the airwaves what the Bushie State Media is doing to Gore.

Edited on Tue Oct-16-07 05:08 PM by RelativelyJones
But, thanks to Bush's policies, the Chinese have got us by the balls due to our massive indebtedness. He's given the keys to the kingdom to China and Saudi Arabia yet dares to say he acts in our interest. He has let people who can truly hurt us gain leverage over us.
