Bush Says He Is Relevant
By TERENCE HUNT – 3 hours ago

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Bush, weakened by record-low poll ratings, asserted he is still politically relevant and scolded the Democratic-led Congress on Wednesday for having "little to show for all the time that has gone by."

Trying to shape the political debate, Bush used a midmorning news conference to lecture lawmakers about their failure to complete action on any spending bills to keep the government running or to send him legislation dealing with education, housing and other matters.

Saying he did not share any blame for Congress' failure to act, Bush said, "I think it is their fault that bills aren't moving."

With his presidency in its final 15 months, his approval ratings at just 31 percent in the latest Associated Press-Ipsos poll and Democrats running Congress, Bush has little clout to push his own agenda through Congress.

However, he can stop the Democrats' proposals with his veto since Congress has been unable so far to override his rejection of troop withdrawal deadlines in Iraq and expanded stem cell research. The House on Thursday is expected to fail to override his veto of an expansion of a popular children's health insurance program.

Bush said his veto pen was "one way to ensure that I am relevant; that's one way to ensure that I am in the process. And I intend to use the veto."

This one made my day. Bush defending his relevance. lol. Later in the article Bush says Congress should not be angering Turkey but seems indifferent to angering China.

8. George must be pissed off big time...
I bet he's having some heated discussions with god.

Bush: "God, how come you gave that fucking liberal a Nobel Prize while I have to defend my relevance?"

God: "I wanted my child Al to get elected, dickhead. He was supposed to bring about world peace. George you screwed up THE PLAN and stole the election. You know? The one I've been working on for 6 billion years. Asswipe."

7. His only relevance
His only relevance will be a reminder for future generations of how Hitler rose to power and how people forgot how Hitler rose to power and allowed someone equally as evil to do the same.

He is worse than Hitler. The Republicans are worse than the Nazi Party. And we, the good Americans, are worse than the good Germans.

Lou went so far as to call * a "neo-liberal." A note to Lou: Fiscal responsibilty is not a synonym for Conservative. Bush is a miserable failure but don't try to pin him on us. He's GOP, Conservative and a Total Tool. Deal with it. We are going to have enough work cleaning up this conservative mess, you deal with your issues finding out that Conservatism leads to crappy results.

18. Reality: "Are not". Bush, "Am so."
The problem has always been his relevance, though--he *does things*. That one extraordinary picture of Laura Bush from some function or other with her head tilted and her eyes so wide the whites are well exposed has always made sense to me--she's known him and been married to him long enough--"There he is--*talking* to somebody. And dear heaven, what is he saying, now?" She knows. Given an opportunity, he can not avoid being what he is. A scene in the making.

The problem from the beginning has been the degree to which he is *in the process." He is dragging down Congress just by virtue of his influence even with his popularity being so low--the loyalists can't let him hang (Why not? Pavlovian response? Blackmail? Double-dog dares?) but the only way up would be away--from his clearly unpopular leadership.

As for China (hmm...whither Taiwan?) and the long-decided by history issue of calling a spade a genocide if it turns over enough graves, how goddamn political and sad. How *politically correct*, really. I'm so sorry if historical facts make for language that discomforts a man in sore need of any sort of friends (I hear he hangs with Kissinger--really! And many of his associates are, shall we say, "inindicted co-conspirators"--not a savory crowd. No wonder he's fussy about *language*. Words can be very messy--records and all.) he can get. And maybe, if we are really cool to his friends and don't call them out on a thing that happened generations ago--they'll not start a debacle with the Kurds (the *good Iraquis*)at least until he's out of office. Like, by a minute.

Relevant? He should change his name. He should wear a fake mustache. He should start press conferences explaining he doesn't really speak English very well. His relevance has always been a problem. The more relevant he tries to be, like a bad "topics" comic (think--"recent Dennis Miller") the worse his act gets.

relevant <ˈreləvənt> adjective
connected with or saying something important about what is being spoken about or discussed.

Bush said his veto pen was "one way to ensure that I am relevant; that's one way to ensure that I am in the process. And I intend to use the veto."

So he's gonna throw a hissy pissy fit to prove he's relevant????

Maybe he should put some more food on our families.

In a rebuff to deafening laughter following his claim to be "relevant." the President backpedaled during a press conference today and merely claimed to exist, which resulted in audible titters among staffers and some of the more intelligent interns.
