Gates faults NATO on Afghanistan
Source: Guardian Unlimited

Defense Secretary Robert Gates criticized European members of NATO on Monday for failing to provide the extra troops that their governments promised last year for security duties in Afghanistan.

``I am not satisfied that an alliance whose members have over 2 million soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen cannot find the modest additional resources that have been committed for Afghanistan,'' Gates told a news conference after a meeting of a separate organization of southeast European countries.

The main shortfall is in troops to serve as trainers for the Afghan National Army and the Afghan police.

Gates said he intended to pursue the matter at a NATO defense ministers meeting in the Netherlands this week.

Why should NATO countries be contributing ANY troops to Afghanistan? Just because Der Fuhrer demands it? This is YOUR war, Lord Pissypants. YOU are the one who decided to go charging into Afghanistan blindly, despite warnings from virtually everyone that it would become a quagmire. YOU were the one who decided the best way to handle Bin Laden would be to invade. Now that it's not going the way you want, you want Europe to bail you out? FUCK YOU.

1. NATO has a responsibility to defend member nations from attack,
not join them in never ending mountain goat hunts. Europeans have memories longer than the last news cycle,
and therefore they know that Afghanistan is unconquerable.

2. Everyone knew that except little balls lord pussy-pants.
Just ask any Russian! But Der Fuhrer had to show the Russians off and accomplish something they and others failed do. "Look world how strong and powerful we are. Beware, bow down and obey Americans or we'll crush you."
Somehow they didn't listen...the nerve.

Then he got bored with Afghanistan and needed some extra amusement and he was itching to get revenge on Saddam and show the world how fierce we were, and test out all our new weapons and make a lot money at the same time. "Watch world...this is going to be fun. The shock and awe will more entertaining than the 4th of July. Just watch those buildings explode and ignore the collateral damage...as they're just rag-heads anyway.
