Rice Says Iran an Obstacle to U.S. Goals

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice Calls Iran a Major Obstacle to U.S. Vision in the Mideast

Iran is a major obstacle to the U.S. vision of a Middle East in which nations will "trade more, invest more, talk more and work more constructively to solve problems," Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says.

"The Iranian government is pursuing policies which are detrimental to the long-term interests of its neighbors, of the region, and of the Iranian people themselves. It need not be this way," Rice said in remarks prepared for delivery Wednesday to a House panel.

The Associated Press obtained a copy of her testimony.

Rice's testimony, before the House Foreign Affairs Committee, comes amid increased frustration by Republicans and Democrats alike that the Bush administration is not doing enough to deter Iran's nuclear ambitions.

...

Rice planned to tell the House committee Wednesday that in addition to nuclear ambitions that undermine stability in the region, Tehran has provided "lethal assistance" to extremist groups in Lebanon, Afghanistan and the Palestinian territories, as well as Iraq.

2. More pretzel logic from the shoe lady.....
Right now, the U.S. is the biggest obstacle to all constructive solutions in the Middle East, Condi, because the last thing that dirtbag administration you belong to wants is peace and stability.

3. Democrats are "frustrated" that Bush isn't doing enough against Iran?
Are they series? Is this a deliberate misrepresentation, or is there a flock of Liebermans in the House that are fearful that Chimpy WON'T bomb Iran?

7. Blah blah blah...
Kindasleazy just selling the saber-
rattling. Why should any one put stock
in her recommendations after Iraq? Only
those that want to attack Iran to start
with give her talking points any serious
consideration.

I guess she was absent from Secretary of State classes the day they taught "diplomacy".

9. The Ayatollah could throw his arms open, embrace bushler, give
him absolutely everything he could possibly ask for, and this admin would still be banging this war drum. I don't know what Iran is actually an "obstacle" to, but they are in the path of something.

17. what a crock of sh*t
this is a total crock of crap.

it stinks every which way.

did you all read the esquire article recently from 2 top admin insiders who worked with Iran?

Iran repeatedly offered cooperation, even a total compliance with all our demands, after 9/11 and offered help in hunting down al Q. and on and on.

beside the arrogance of her bringing up "OUR" vision for the mideast as if that's more important than anyone living there's vision, the scariest thing about this story is that she is now clearly on board with the rest of the nutcases. those stories about how she was one of the few still resisting attacking Iran now are moot.

its all over now but the false flag incident to set it all off.

from "Lives In the Balance" by Jackson Browne

They sell us the President the same way
They sell us our clothes and our cars
They sell us every thing from youth to religion
The same time they sell us our wars
I want to know who the men in the shadows are
I want to hear somebody asking them why
They can be counted on to tell us who our enemies are
But they're never the ones to fight or to die

And there are lives in the balance
There are people under fire
There are children at the cannons
And there is blood on the wire
