Romney says 'bombardment' of Iran must be option
Source: AP

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - On the presidential campaign trail in New Hampshire, Republican Mitt Romney says he'd be willing to use a military blockade or bombardment to prevent Iran from gaining a nuclear weapon.

Romney said such action would be necessary if severe economic and diplomatic sanctions don't convince Iranian leaders to abandon pursuit of a nuclear weapon.

The Iranian government contends its program is to provide nuclear power.

Romney heralded news yesterday that the Bush administration was announcing new sanctions designed to isolate the government in Tehran.

6. Nope they are sitting this one out
See "Gangster" Cheney's excuse

he told the Washington Post that he had sought his deferments because "I had other priorities in the 60's than military service."

Richard Cheney did everything humanly possible -- short of fleeing to Canada -- to avoid military conscription: He applied for and received 5 student deferments, a number described as "incredible" by professor David Curry of the University of Missouri in St. Louis. Curry has written extensively about the draft, including a 1985 book, "Sunshine Patriots: Punishment and the Vietnam Offender." The Times quotes Mr. Curry as observing: "That's a lot of times for the draft board to say O.K."

3. This is the same stance as Clinton, Obama, and Edwards.
So, I guess that most Democrats would agree with this...

5. I don't know what military these people think they have...
...but the one I'm in doesn't seem at all prepared to do something like this without exacting an absolutely horrific cost (yes, even more than what we're already paid) on its member that is unlikely to be undone any time soon. Already having problems meeting recruiting goals- imagine what would happen if we did in fact "bombard" Iran. It's hard enough to keep people in as it is.

7. At the rate U.S. bidnesses either send jobs abroad or just cut 'em
... I forsee a "rush for survival" into all military recruitment offices as soon as BushCheney decide to slash all "social safety nets" (UI in this case).
