Journal Inquirer MANCHESTER - A Marine reservist who returned from two tours in Iraq less than a year ago was arraigned Wednesday on charges that he threw a knife at his girlfriend and then pointed a loaded shotgun at her.
The man, Kiann Roberts, 25, of Chestnut Street, faces charges including first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree unlawful restraint, and third-degree assault for the Tuesday incident.

Roberts' girlfriend told police that he is having trouble dealing with civilian life, and that he occasionally has flashbacks to his time in Iraq, according to the police report.
During his arraignment Wednesday, Assistant State's Attorney Anthony J. Spinella expressed sympathy for Roberts' situation, but said he felt the Marine was too dangerous to be released without supervision.

The friend described Roberts as "drunker than I was," and the two men sat down and began drinking wine and watching military videos on his laptop computer, according to the report.
"He started crying at times, and saying that some of these people had fallen," he told police. "I held him while he cried and tried to console him."
