Irked politician attacks radio broadcaster while on air

Oct 27, 2007, 7:18 GMT

Manila - An irked local politician has attacked a radio broadcaster while he was on air in the southern Philippines, a media group said Saturday.
(snip)

'Barte, his wife and daughter physically attacked Sembrano while he was on air,' the union said. 'When Sembrano tried to stop them, Barte drew out his gun and threatened to kill him.'
(snip)

The attack on Sembrano came a day after an attempt to kill two radio blocktimers - guest commentators who buy time slots for their programmes - in nearby Davao del Sur province.

Gunmen opened fire on the two media practitioners but they missed. Their weapons then jammed, allowing the targets to escape unharmed.

According to the NUJP, four journalists have been killed in the Philippines this year. Last year, 13 journalists were killed.

3. Yes, the Phillipines are back under Bush/Marcos control. Arroyo is another Marcos.
Bush is another Marcos.

Look at the tyrant-to-tyrant eye contact in that top photo. Heartwarming.

At any rate, the Phillipino People have to be boiling and chafing because they briefly tasted a bit of freedom under Cory Aquino (all things being relative), now they are ruled by a BushMarcos again and undoubtedly things are moving backwards, freedom-wise, just like in Amerika, Russia and every other State that has fallen to BushPutinism.

Staged terror photo ops, murdered and intimidated journalists. Plausible deniability for the wetwork.

Oh, she's a murdering Bushie, all right, keeping the world safe for the Global Aristocracy, and safe from the Filthy Peasants, same as it has always been (with brief exceptions such as 1945-2000 Old America).

6. How did the gun man miss?
Usually radio talk studios are very very small spaces. How could he miss hitting anyone?

Are guns legal in the Philippines?
