Twenty headless bodies found north of Baghdad

1 hour, 6 minutes ago

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Twenty decapitated bodies were found dumped near a police station on Monday west of the volatile city of Baquba in Iraq, police said.

There was no immediate information on who the victims were. Baquba, 65 km (40 miles) northeast of Baghdad, is a mixed Sunni and Shi'ite city that has been riven by sectarian violence.

2. Sorry to indulge in levity...
in such a horrific case, but one can't help thinking how much of this is being caused by a headless body in Washington, DC.

3. "Dumped near a police station"
Surely the police couldn't have had anything to do with it...

7. Yeah, I read 8 were set free and they were looking for the other 3. BUT
I also read that one had been found dead the day before. So none of it made sense so I just decided that it was business as usual, who the hell knows what's really going on.

Iraqi troops rescue tribal chiefs

Iraqi troops have rescued eight members of a group of 11 tribal leaders abducted in Baghdad on Sunday, the Iraqi defence ministry has said.
Spokesman Maj Gen Mohammed al-Askari said the sheikhs were freed in a raid on a house following a tip off.

The troops are searching for the remaining members of the group but reports said one had been found dead.

Meanwhile, Iraqi police denied earlier reports that 20 headless bodies had been found dumped near Baquba.

The US military in Iraq on Monday accused an alleged rogue commander from a Shia militia of being behind the kidnappings.

The Americans said the man - whom they named as Arkan Hasnawi - had disobeyed a ceasefire ordered by his militia, the Mehdi Army.

"Arkan Hasnawi and his gang of criminals continue to intimidate and terrorise innocent Iraqi citizens

Didn't mention US troops freed the sheiks but somebody most likely 'sold out' the freedom fighters to the Iraqi army.

Wonder if al Sadr will 'question' this Arkan Hasnawi fellow shia fighter.

Still waiting for the media to quote al Sadr on these recent matters.
