Reports of Blackwater immunity deal embarrass Rice
Source: AFP

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Reports that State Department investigators offered immunity deals to security guards accused of shooting dead 17 Iraqis dealt an embarrassing blow to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Tuesday.

~snip~

State Department official Sean McCormack refused to confirm the reports on Tuesday, but sought to distance Rice from the scandal.

"Secretary Rice's attitude is that if there are individuals who broke rules, laws or regulations, they must be held to account," he said.

"The reaction that she has taken during the course of the aftermath of this incident has been consistent with that approach."

McCormack stressed that it was Rice who "asked the FBI to take the lead of the investigation."

2. Unhhh, where do I start?
She's embarrassed about reports of Blackwater immunity? They're already immune, and have been since the beginning.
She's embarrassed about this, yet not embarrassed about missing umteen warnings about attacks on our soil?
She's embarrassed about this, yet not embarrassed about agreeing with everything the worst president in our history says?
Somebody stop me....

7. You mean it was "lower-level" employees who made this alleged immunity deal?
Why do the upper points of hierarchy always take credit when the news is good, they appear on the everyone's TV screens with ear-to-ear grins; but when the news is bad, the fault lies elsewhere, most often with the lower levels?

Responsibility is for little people, while rewards are for King and Queen?

10. Or Clinton's
Actually, it probably is the Big Dog's fault for not prosecuting Iran/Contra--he gave all these crooks a new lease on life and a third chance to destroy the world as we know it....

11. So Condoleeza Calrissian doesn't find her deal with The Dark Side to her liking.

It sucks when you find that your team isn't really on your side, doesn't it Condi.

Unlike Lando, I'm sure she'll adapt, because her betters know as well as she does that she has no choice. She's too invested in the corruption to seriously question it.
