(Bernard) Kerik sued for failing to pay legal bills

Bernard Kerik, the former New York City police commissioner who is being investigated by federal authorities, is being sued by his former lawyers for more than $200,000.

Mr. Kerik was police commissioner when presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani was mayor.

The law firm of Fulbright & Jaworski says in papers filed in Manhattan's state Supreme Court that Mr. Kerik has failed to pay bills of $202,384 for legal services by a former lawyer at the firm.

Chad Seigel, Mr. Kerik's lawyer in this civil case, said the lawsuit is "the result of an obvious miscommunication that we are in the process of resolving." He would not comment further.
