Bill O'Reilly Roughs Up Obama Aide, Forced Back by Secret Service at New Hampshire Event
Source: BuzzFlash

On Friday in New Hampshire, Bill O'Reilly crossed into a Secret Service security zone around Obama, without permission, and got into a scuffling match with an Obama senior staffer.

O'Reilly later imperiously justified his breach of security by declaring, "We're sorry we had to have that little confrontation, but no one on this earth is going to block a shot on "The O'Reilly Factor." It is not going to happen," O'Reilly said, according to the Associated Press.

4. Yes.
O'Reilly grabbed the aide (full disclosure: guy was 6'8") and was pushing him away.

O'Reilly was also not in the press area and knew it.

66. Yep - Puppet theater is back!
From a TVNewser tipster: "NBC and MSNBC doing on-air promos of 'Puppet Theater' of O'Reilly incident on Countdown tomorrow."

http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/

Bill O'Reilly was just on FNC (3:08pmET) talking with Brian Wilson about the confrontation at a Barack Obama event in New Hampshire today. Below is a rush transcript.

"..so a big guy comes over, stands right in front of the Factor camera. So I had to gently remove him from that position."
"...no scuffle at all, I just removed him from in front of the camera."

"...I might have called him an S.O.B. (laughter) nothing more than that."

"...about :10 seconds after we gently removed him I spoke with Sen. Barack Obama."

8. This is a clearer picture than I first heard. Dems all have to get used to it.
Rove's Orcs - Faux News, Limpballs, the rest of the usual suspects - are just getting started, and putting the candidates in physical jeopardy is not beyond the pale for them. They are likely to overreach, but that won't stop them.

O'Reilly is not just a creep parroting right wing talking points, he is a thug. Thank goodness we have A Hero ready to take him on.

I really don't like it when people who've happened to post a bunch over the years get cocky and talk down to newer members. This is an INCLUSIVE place, not exclusive.

Besides how do you know someone is new? Because of their post count? I had to start a new account a few years back with no posts.

Clinton who appeared rested after a brutal 48 hours of Iowa and New Hampshire campaigning. She had the crowd laughing when she acknowledged the host of the O'Reilly Factor standing unobtrusively next to a camera tripod.

"Hi, Bill how are you?" Clinton asked, as O'Reilly frowned, rocking on his heels.

"You've got to give to him points for courage," she told the crowd of about 800, which jammed the school's gymnasium.

this is when shoot on sight orders need to be implemented against bill o'reilly for threatening and endangering a public official and presidential candidate. history has proven right wingers have no regrets about using violence against the opposition. save america, shoot o'reilly.

sirhan sirhan was just a nice stable boy

whos to say a mentally unstable, conservative propagandist with a messiah complex and ego wouldn't think that he'd get away with killing a colored presidential candidate and be hailed as hero by his viewers and listeners for it and protected by them?

if this had been keith-O doing this to say, mitt romney, conservatives would be calling for him to be shot for treason and he'd probably have been billy clubbed on the spot for it.

bill-o is a threat to this country and you never know when he might snap. he's already proven he's willing to assault people to get his way. conservatives like bill-o are dangerous animals and should be treated as such.

Oh I love Fox New's response:
Updated 7:10 p.m. Ron Mitchell, a producer for Mr. O’Reilly at Fox News Channel, offered this response by email:

“Mr. O’Reilly was not in the front of the rope line. When Mr. Nicholson was asked to move away from the camera’s position, he declined. When the camera changed position, Mr. Nicholson moved to stand in front of it again.'’

“We would very much appreciate it if you could add those facts to your story,” Mr. Mitchell said.
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/01/05/oreilly-involved-in-shoving-match-at-obama-event/:
wtf: :wtf: :wtf: Yeah, right you Morans.

Excerpt:
Since most of the press did not see O’Reilly’s tussle (our view of the rope line was blocked by a riser), we asked the campaign to comment. Marvin Nicholson himself gave a recap of events.

“I don’t know exactly what happened”, Nicholson said, “I was shadowing the Senator as I often do during the rope line and he started yelling at me to move out of the shot.

Nicholson said that he was standing there and O’Reilly moved around the barricade and grabbed him by the arm and tried to push him out of the way. Nicholson is 6’8”.

According to Nicholson, O’Reilly was told to go back behind the barricade. Nicholson then approached O’Reilly.

“I went up to him and said 'Sir, don’t push me anymore,'” Nicholson recounted, “and he said that I was low class.”

Nicholson described O’Reilly as being “really upset” and yelling.

O'Reilly verbally, physically attacks Obama staffer at New Hampshire event
http://rawstory.com/news/2007/OReilly_uses_profanity_causes_incident_at_0105.html

The account of his "gentle removal" is a bit different coming from Nicholson himself, who says that an irate and verbose O'Reilly ordered him to move, and shoved him by his left arm.

O'Reilly insists that there was no scuffle, only a "removal" of a man that was blocking his shot. As for reports of profanity, O'Reilly says he may have called his target an "S.O.B." but nothing more. He also denies being "restrained" by two Secret Service agents, reported to have flanked him and escorted him away.

"Ten seconds after I gently removed the man from in front of our camera," he says, "I actually spoke to Barack Obama."

"The Secret Service guys led me right by, and we had a nice little chat, which you'll hear on the Factor Monday night."

56. What Apology?
I hear a man who believes himself, by the power invested in him by TV, beyond the normal boundaries of behavior. One day he'll learn differently, just as all the other rabble-rousing blowhards of the past have done. Anybody heard from Father Coughlin, Morton Downey Jr, or Joe McCarthy lately? They have taken their proper places in history as voices that most people now realize were 'sound and fury signifying nothing.' That's where Bill will be some day. I have to wonder what all that rage and bluster does to a man's heart.

44. Secret Service must not assume toward harmless
No one should be allowed to slip around barriers, get in among any of the candidates' inner circle, aides, gofers, to the degree Bill O'Reilly did today. I'd have to research, but it seems to me that in the past persons in the crowd got in too close to candidate(s), and were hauled off to jail and held until they were checked out. Bill O'Reilly wasn't part of Obama's inner circle, he got in too close and hence, he should have been hauled off. Just because he's on TV, doesn't make him above the law. I hope the aide presses charges, like assault and makes a great big deal out of it. ANd I hope that the Secret Service agents all start paying better attention.

62. Why does Obama have Secret Service protection?? The other candidates don't.
I know Hillary does because she was First Lady. But why has Obama had it for months now?

63. They get it by default.
If an individual candidate does not want it, he would need to formally refuse the protection detail.

What makes you think that none of the other candidates have no SS protection?

65. No they don't...
Only party nominees get protection by default. Obama received it last year because of threats made against him. Clinton gets it by virtue of being a former First Lady. Any other assignments at this point are based only on need.

68. Pic of the confrontation at mediabistro

Despite our earlier reporting, the Secret Service did get involved during the Bill O'Reilly confrontation with an Obama staffer Saturday morning in New Hampshire. The picture below (Reuters/Jim Bourg) shows a Secret Service agent coming between O'Reilly and Obama staffer Marvin Nicholson.

Fox News host Bill O'Reilly got into a confrontation with an Obama aide after O'Reilly started screaming at him as he tried to get Barack Obama's attention following a rally here. O'Reilly eventually did chat briefly with Obama and asked him to be a guest on his show.

The incident was triggered when O'Reilly--with a Fox News crew shooting--was screaming at Obama National Trip Director Marvin Nicholson "Move" so he could get Obama's attention, according to several eyewitnesses. "O'Reilly was yelling at him, yelling at his face," a photographer shooting the scene said.

O'Reilly grabbed Nicholson's arm and shoved him, another eyewitness said. Nicholson, who is 6'8, said O'Reilly called him "low class."

"He grabbed me with both his hands here," Nicholson said, gesturing to his left arm and O'Reilly "started shoving me." Nicholson said, " He was pretty upset. He was yelling at me."

Secret Service agents who were nearby flanked O 'Reilly after he pushed Nicholson. They told O'Reilly he needed to calm down and get behind the fence-like barricade that contained the press.

69. How many times has O'Reilly mentioned
how tall he is on his show? Many, many times. He is an aggessive bully. He just ran into someone bigger than him on the playground and lost his cool, as most bullies do. But, it is ridiculous that the Secret Service get diverted from their jobs for a moment to deal with an idiot when there might be someone really dangerous in the crowd.

fancies himself as some kind of tough guy and likes to play the schoolyard bully. I hope someone knocks him flat of his ass hard enough to send him to the ER. It's what he truly deserves. :grr:
