Senate GOPers meeting to form message strategy
Source: The Hill

Senate Republicans announced Tuesday they will hold a closed-door retreat next week to discuss what kind of message to take to voters as they head into a bleak election landscape.

The Jan. 23 retreat at the Library of Congress will mark the first time a meeting is convened by Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.). He was elected in December as the new chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, which spearheads the conference’s messaging and communications strategy.

Alexander has said he wants the conference to craft a message aimed at attracting independents and conservatives. But he faces the challenge of bridging differences between diverse factions of the conference while appeasing those who want the GOP minority to take an increasingly confrontational approach to the Democratic majority as the elections draw near.

Twenty-three Republicans are facing reelection in November.

It would be grand to see their divisive politics come back to bite them in the arse in the coming election.

I imagine what they plan to do is confuse by creating smoke screens from wedge issues. Since they've lost the terror card as the number one top issue even among Republicans they're being forced to learn a new song and dance.

2. Start with "We are Sorry, We screwed up royally"
any message that does not include acceptance of responsibility is worthless

4. But they've already taken such an eloquent message to the populace in recent years.
And it has been such great exercise for their middle fingers.

5. This is hard werk. The repos have so many diverse factions, and it'll be hard
to honor them "while appeasing those who want the GOP minority to take an increasingly confrontational approach..." You've got to craft messages for diverse groups such as:

Dukester Cunningham: Why the hell am I the only one in jail?

The Delayed Justice Brigade: Justice delayed has made my day!

Bankster gangsters: Don't stop now, the country's still solvent!

The 4th Branch of Government: Satan fears me. You should, too.

The Unitary Executive: It's my country and I'll do what I want to...

The Theocrats: You should obey the voices in my head.

The crony infestation: At least I'm not corrupt.

The privateers: At least I'm not incompetent.

The privatized defense contractors: Thanks a bundle.

And last but not least, the TINY GOP minority that wants to establish permanent one-party theocratic corporate rule while simultaneously drowning the government in a bathtub, how about the always stylish, "Yeah, we robbed you blind. What are you gonna do about it?"

6. They need to find new members for the Singing Senators, too.
Whew! That's a lot to do in one week.
