Janet Reno endorses Clinton
Source: Miami Herald

Former U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno, who served in Bill Clinton's administration, is backing his wife in Tuesday's presidential primary.

Reno, who ran for governor in 2002 and served as Miami-Dade State Attorney, is one of Florida's best-known politicians. "She's got a large statewide following in Florida,'' said Ana Cruz, who leads a volunteer group called Hillary for Florida.

3. Mixed blessing.
Reno was always a lightening rod for anti-Clinton sentiment.

4. cue pointless character assassination of Janet Reno in five seconds...
...methinks some faux-outrage over the self-imposed fate of heavily armed cult members who tried to fight the government will be order of the day. Always fun to see DUers sympathize with wacko suicide cults when it's convenient.

10. Hey now! The only difference between the wacko religious
cults and main stream religions is sincerity and membership numbers. Also possibily the amount of time spent in the wacko zone of all religions.

and talk show pundits as the Clintons. She is one tough and fair lady.

9. Janet's got nothing to lose
as her career is already pretty much finished. I admire her, though, but the endorsement really doesn't mean all that much.

15. I have nothing personal against Janet Reno...
...but this is NOT going to help Hillary with the Latino vote. Matter of fact, it might only hurt her in places like Florida...

20. actually there were "Cubans for Reno"
back when she ran for governor in Florida against Jeb Bush. I went to one of her campaign rallies some years ago, and saw them, the rally was at her house in S. Florida (Kendall, and the event also served as her birthday party bash which was in October, if memory serves me well).

But to think that there were and are Cuban-Americans who supported Janet, in Miami!

The rightwing Cubans are more vocal and often more violent, in fact they do have ties to all sorts of covert terrorist cells in Miami. Officially endorsed terrorism by our government.

I don't think Janet's endorsement will hurt Hillary, the rightwing Cubans are gonna vote for McCain because they are his best hope for a 2nd Bay of Pigs, which is very likely if McCain get elected. McCain wants war, he wants them in the plural form, and Cuba is always a nice, easy target.

All Hillary has to do is to threaten Cuba a few times before November, and the rightwing Cubans will go for that to some extent.

I think Janet owes some gratitude for all the strong support she got from the federal gov. during the Elian crisis, and she really is a fine and honorable lady. The Waco smears never bothered my high opinion of Janet, and never will. I think she probably likes Obama, too, but she owes the Clintons more from her years as the AG of the USA.

26. You mean hated by right-wingers who wanted Elian to be taken away from his father?
Yeah, I agree.

If you wish to discuss polls at the time asking Americans whether they wanted Elian to go back to Cuba to live with his father or stay with his now-rich aunt, just send me a private message.
