Source: KUSA

KEYSTONE, Colo. -- Former ABC News correspondent John McWethy died Wednesday after a skiing accident at Keystone Ski Resort.

McWethy, 61, was pronounced dead at Summit Medical Center in Frisco.

According to the Summit County coroner's office, McWethy died after missing a turn on an intermediate slope and hit a tree chest-first.

McWethy was a correspondent for ABC News from 1979-2003, primarily working as the network's National Security Correspondent.

He retired in July, 2003 but continued to serve a special correspondent to the network for three years.

He and his family moved to Boulder last year.

19. Don't know the name, but it's very sad.
But why the hell was he skiing at Keystone? Their snow sucks - bad location and doesn't get enough of the stuff.

I skiied there in the 70s and 80s, but only when they were having GS races (I used to race). NEVER went there otherwise........
