Thousands of Gitmo interrogations taped: report

More than 24,000 interrogations of suspected terrorists at the Guantanamo prison camp were videotaped, a new US report says.

The Seton Hall University School of Law report cites a May 2005 internal report from US Army Surgeon General Kevin Kiley in which he wrote: "All interrogations are videotaped."

A month later, Lieutenant General Randall Schmidt issued another report saying that 24,000 interrogations took place at the US naval base between 2002-2005, they said.

"Records indicate that an infrastructure for videotaping exists at Guantanamo," the Seton Hall report says.

"Cameras are positioned in every interrogation room, and each room is monitored from elsewhere."

But Guantanamo spokesman Rick Haupt said Surgeon General Kiley's statement "is erroneous," adding that his report was by a medical authority, not intelligence services.

I remember reading weeks ago an ex-detainee gave his account of torture and said each session was taped.

3. Even if they weren't taped, there ought to be notes , dossiers, etc

Repeated interrogation of the same person requires the analyst to compare one session's answers against another. There must have been plenty of overflowing file cabinets if there were 24,000 interrogations.

So because he's a doctor, he doesn't have eyes in his head to see the video camera in the room taping the interrogation? All the reaching in the world can't help them now.



24,000 video-taped interrogations? Someone has one hell of a snuff-porn collection in their basement. Destroying the two we knew about was probably a token sacrifice of someone's D-list material. I remember when we learned from Hersh that the government was keeping tapes of children being raped in Iraq. God only knows what came out of Guantanamo.

i would think they wouldn't be doing their jobs properly if they hadn't recorded the interrogations.
