Ohio no easy ride for Clinton
Source: BBC

By Louisa Brooke
Columbus, Ohio

Hillary Clinton is battling to survive in the race for the Democratic nomination after Barack Obama's winning streak since Super Tuesday.

Mr Obama has won 10 contests out of 10, and is pulling well ahead in the delegate stakes.

.....

Immediately after Super Tuesday, he thought the conventional wisdom was correct - the race would be close, but Clinton would win. Now he says it is "anybody's to win".

.....

"I don't see any reason why the pattern developed in Maryland, Virginia and Wisconsin - of Obama being able to cut into the base of Hillary Clinton's vote - will stop when you get to Ohio," says Professor John Kessel, Emeritus Professor of Political Science at Ohio State University.

1. Can you rely on Ohio's votes being counted accurately anyway?
I don't know who is going to win Ohio, but I do know I'll be suspicious of the result no matter who it is.

3. well, we did dump the last secretary of state, blackwell
and we have a democratic SOS now.

I'd say we're in better shape relatively than past elections.

9. If you are seriously suspicious feel free to be proactive.
200 Ohioans stood on the Statehouse lawn in December 2004 every Sunday to beg that the votes be counted. I stood for you, here in Ohio and as you can see we need more than that to get the job done. And yes we do have a new hard working SOS but the Rthugs are actively trying to stop her every move. Be part of the solution, I beg of you.

5. I've been seeing far more advertising for Obama than for Clinton.
Just watching any local channel here on cable, I'm seeing about 6 Obama adds to Clinton's 1. Same goes for radio. When Clinton was here on campus last week, the traffic was completely smooth sailing. Indicator? Prolly not, but seems like Barack is getting far more exposure here...

6. Where I am, it seems to be fairly even.
If I see an Obama ad, I'll see an HRC ad a few minutes later. But I am in a heavily Democratic county with a solid union base; a base, I might add, that has been practically decimated by the collapse of the domestic auto industry. I can't say how the county might swing right now.

7. I think he can afford more media buys,
since he's getting about a million a day in donations.

Thanks for the update on the ground!

8. Rec'd.. This is a great
analysis to ponder. And you know Obama's people will be working hard on the ground like all the States they've been in. They'll be working positively while hilary's surrogates will be looking for dirt.

10. The queen's base in blasted into tiny bits of nothing.
Another lost will almost guarantee a Barrack win for sure.

Obama will be the best candidate to battle McCain. Bar None!
