NEW DELHI: With the arrest of two men on Friday, the crime branch claimed to have busted a major human trafficking racket. The two accused identified as Ajay Shukla and Pawan Mishra helped more than 100 people acquire US visas in the past three years on the basis of forged documents, said the police.
Another man, Gur Saheb Singh, was arrested for trying to acquire a US visa with the help of the accused. Singh was arrested while he was standing in the queue outside the US embassy.
The accused operated from a flat in west Kidwai Nagar where they prepared fake bank statements, PAN cards, income tax return documents and property related papers for candidates who needed US visa.
‘‘In some cases they charged as much as Rs 5 lakh for the visa. They have admitted they had applied for visas in the embassy for close to 15 people every month out of which at least 4-5 managed to acquire it successfully,'' said additional commissioner (crime) Satyendra Garg.
