Poll: Obama Rises in Voter Popularity
Source: New York Times

Voters’ opinions of the top three presidential candidates have shifted significantly over the past two months, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News Poll.

Currently Senator Barack Obama is viewed more favorably than both Senator Hillary Clinton and Senator John McCain among all registered voters. Forty-five percent of voters said they have a favorable opinion of Mr. Obama, while about 35 percent have a favorable view of Mrs. Clinton and 36 percent said the same of Mr. McCain.

Mr. Obama is personally more well-liked than is Mrs. Clinton among those who vote in Democratic contests. Nearly 7 in 10 say they have a favorable opinion of Mr. Obama, the highest rating for him in a New York Times/CBS News poll since the start of the primaries. In contrast, Mrs. Clinton is viewed favorably by 61 percent of the party’s voters, down from 68 percent in December.
On the Republican side, Mr. McCain is enjoying a large boost from his party’s voters with 57 percent reporting they now have a favorable opinion of him, up 20 points from a December reading taken before the primaries and caucuses began.

14. And you think
they're going to go easy on Hillary? If we're going to pick our nominee by who the Repukes won't give crap to, then we may as well nominate Romney.

Oh wait, they gave him a bunch of shit, too.

8. I looked at the Calendar....it's February.
And then I realized that National Polls don't reflect the Electoral College.

Then I realized the Electoral College is the law of the land for presidential races.

Then I realized Hillary can take every state John Kerry did plus Arkansas.

10. Ah, but then you don't hate Hillary...
You see, you suffer from the handicap that you don't hate Hillary with every fiber of you being, so much that you'll take Drudge's word over her campaign's. Why aren't you a hater? It is very popular on DU right now.

11. Not sure about that, but I have no doubt that he'll be better down ticket
and won't hurt state and local candidates and issues in most places- whereas Hillary likely would....

12. This is so bizzare
Are people so uninformed that they they think McCain is somehow different than the current White House chimpanzee resident?

And what about that Congress? The Congress that rubber-stamped every bad idea, every misguided policy, every BAD EMPLOYEE CHOICE, every brain-fart the Cheneybush maladministration ever DREAMED of?

Do people REALLLY think that MORE REPUBLICAN GOVERNMENT is the way to go?

WTF? This SHOULD be a no-brainer.

15. History would indicate that....
Edited on Tue Feb-26-08 07:24 AM by susankh4
people like BALANCED government.

A Repub. prez almost always begets a Dem. congress for this reason. And vice-versa.

The American people may be smarter than we give them credit for .... in that they tend to react in a search for balance.

No matter who the Dem. nominee is, if s/he gets to be prez..... we'll see an increase in Repubs in congress. That's the way it works. And that is why the Prez. must be ready on day on... to make change while s/he still has a majority.
