Did Prosecutor Get All White House Mail?
By PETE YOST – 4 hours ago

WASHINGTON (AP) — When Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald wanted to find out what was going on inside Vice President Dick Cheney's office, the prosecutor in the CIA leak probe made a logical move. He dropped a grand jury subpoena on the White House for all the relevant e-mail.

One problem: Even though White House computer technicians hunted high and low, an entire week's worth of e-mail from Cheney's office was missing. The week was Sept. 30, 2003, to Oct. 6, 2003, the opening days of the Justice Department's probe into whether anyone at the White House leaked the identity of CIA operative Valerie Plame.

That episode was part of the picture that unfolded Tuesday on Capitol Hill, where Democrats on a House committee released new information about one of the Bush White House's long-running issues, its problem-plagued e-mail system.

For the first time, a former White House computer technician went public with the details. Steven McDevitt revealed in written statements submitted to Congress how a plan was developed to try to recover the missing e-mail for Fitzgerald.

After the CNN article of December 20, the U.S. media were stricken mute on the Convar investigation.
Of the media blackouts shrouding 9/11, none has been more absolute.

"We still know virtually nothing about the status of the alleged missing White House e-mails," the Archives' general counsel, Gary Stern, wrote to his boss last September.

I hear there is a secret compartment. He OBVIOUSLY has the goods, and it sure as hell indicates an indictment threat to Rove as well.

That's funny. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the email system, its just being used by criminals.

30. no--not unless we have a witness who will swear they INTENDED to lose them
all of these cases boil down to intent. That's why we are fucked. They were careful never to let anyone see their intent, at least not so that they could testify to it in court (or at least to anyone whose neck would also not be in the noose)

entirely coincidental. By the way, wasn't Cheney at the White House when Nixon's tape was erased?

21. History should put this next to Nixon's missing 15 minutes of tape.
These are the ONLY missing e-mails? That says a whole lot about this being supposedly a mere technical glitch.

28. Of course it's "sandbagging". Gum it to death, obstruct, deny, refuse to cooperate
It's endless and there are no consequences. Congress cannot enforce its subpoenas as all enforcement agencies are under the executive branch...actually the judiciary branch but this administration owns the judiciary branch. Congress cannot even stop Bush from breaking the law through signing statements. Congress keeps acting like they are relevant and just cannot accept yet that this is a dictatorship and Congress is just being ignored while Bush does exactly what he wants. There is what is said...and then there is what is done.

When congress has Miers and Bolten arrested then I will believe we still have a democracy...but they won't and we don't.

The congress in Germany in the '30s kept acting like they were relevant and still functioning while Hitler just kept ignoring them except when he wanted legislation passed and they would always give it to him to avoid repercussions and avoid conflict. It took months for congress to realize they no longer mattered till finally Hitler just dismissed them.

The people are always the last to know and by the time they figure it out they are too afraid to say anything about it.
It all begins and ends with impeachment. It would make everything else fall into place.

29. The scary part is...
...okay put on your tinfoil hats...

If they do by some chance lose the election (diebold won't let that happen), then they will lose their immunity and grip over the cowardly media and congress.

They aren't going to let that happen. If Obama or Clinton were to actually walk in to that office in Nov., then it would foil all the work that so many sick fuck repukes have done to march us down the road to fascism.

If they don't stop them in the election, they'll probably just surround the white house with blackwater troops and hunker down while a martial law police force takes the "america-haters" and puts them all away.

Or am I just totally freaking insane???
