US labor market could grind to a halt - Conf Board
Source: Reuters

NEW YORK, Feb 28 (Reuters) - The number of help-wanted ads
in U.S. newspapers fell in January, a private research group
said on Thursday.

The Conference Board said its gauge measuring help-wanted
ad volume edged down to 21 from 22 in December. The index was
31 a year earlier.

"Many economists debate whether we're in a recession or on
the verge of one. What's more important is people are behaving
as if a recession is already here," said Ken Goldstein, labor
economist at the Conference Board, in a statement.

"The latest data on job advertising in print suggests
there's virtually no chance that labor market activity will
improve over the next few months. To the contrary, there is a
chance the labor market could grind to a halt," Goldstein
said.

4. But hey, if wages are kept low and unemployment is kept high
inflation should be contained.

Or so the CNBC pundits gleefully stated.

6. that goes double for me
it was hard to sit still when listening to the CNBC pundits drone on about the worker situation and go on to say 'so of course the bankers need another rate cut more than anyone needs to pay attention to that pesky inflation factor'.

9. I would hate to see this
I have lived through two really bad recessions in my adult life, and I hate the thought of the suffering they cause.

10. Some suggestions ~
If you have a job, hang on to it. In a few months, even a minimum wage job will be King.

Save every penny every dime that you can. Cut back to the bone. Be ready because it's coming.

1. A stash of Cash ~
Get a small box, even a cigar box will do. Start putting in money in there, like a few $1's, some $5's. Throw in some coins, some quarters and dimes will be just fine. Now put it on top of your water heater to keep it hidden, or in your mattress.
Start stashing money in there, until you have around $1,000.00. Now you have your "Currency Crash" stash. That's in case the banks freeze up their ATM's also bank safety deposit boxes are not always a safe place to keep your valuables in case of a crash of some sort.

2. Lay low - start cooking all your meals at home, make your own lunches to take to work, go to the library and borrow movies & books. Don't drive unless you absolutely have to and combine trips. If you need some new clothes, go to the local GW they have nice stuff.

3. Start thinking about hoarding. Start hoarding food, like grains, pasta really easy stuff to store. Like a bag of pinto beans, costs just a dollar or 2, every time you go shopping buy an extra item. Soon you will have around 6 months worth of food stored up. You will sleep very well at night, I guarantee.

4. Other stuff - you might even want to start hoarding other stuff. I hear some people recommend bottles of cheap vodka, boxes of nails, building materials. I'm not sure about this but I definitely recommend the others.
