Rep. Brown-Waite(R-Fla.): Puerto Ricans should ''cool off''
Source: tampabays10

Tampa, Florida —- Red, white, and blue was on parade in downtown Brooksville on Thursday morning. Only this was the Puerto Rican flag making a statement.

A small but vocal group of Democratic voters from central Florida, most of them Puerto Rican, protested against Republican Congresswoman Ginny Brown-Waite for recently labeling Puerto Ricans as “foreign citizens,” and saying they should not be eligible for tax rebates, even though they are Americans by law.

That was just the beginning, her controversial remarks continued when she issued a press release this morning suggesting that Puerto Ricans “cool off” by visiting the Weeki Wachi water park.

“For Representative Brown-Waite to issue a statement suggesting that Puerto Ricans, after this effort, go cool off in Weeki Wachi is ludicrous, disrespectful, and as a result of that she probably won't be re-elected” said one of the protestors through a bullhorn.

Luis Lopez, of Tampa's 1300 AM Spanish talk show, “Buenos Dias” agrees. He is one of more than 300,000 Puerto Ricans who call Central Florida home and plan to vote in the November elections.

“This lady has just hurt the pride of Puerto Ricans who love this country and have fought for it and given their lives.”

1. Dig hole, get in hole, dig some more
How far down is she going to go before she makes this right?

I'm astounded.

2. How's "Ginny" district look?
I'm not familiar with FL-5. Is there any danger of a smidgen of backlash, or is she in one of those safe Republican districts? Of course, this year, every Republican should be feeling just a little worried about their electoral prospects.

6. When Puerto Ricans march in Brooksville you knows things have changed...
Yes, Dems can win this seat; Florida is no Texas. Unfortunately both these states need a re-vitalized party structure.

8. She's safe, and has only token opposition.
With some help, she could possibly have been taken out in 2006, but Karen Thurman, Rahm Emmanuel, and Bill Nelson decided otherwise. They's rather recruit and fund repukes who switch over to Dems.

3. I remember...
helping my father fill his "1040" every year in the Puerto Rican heat. There was no Weeki Wachee waterpark to cool off.

4. The campaign that Brown-Waite ran in FL when I lived there (2002) was
one of the most low-down nasty campaigns I'd ever heard of. She makes Hillary look like a naive sweetheart. What an awful woman she is.

5. She must be trying to lose the race. Here's to hoping she does. What
slimy statements. No one of that egregious ilk deserves to represent anyone anywhere!

7. I wish to sincerely apologize to everyone offended. And not.
Had I worked a little harder for John Russell in 2006, he would have beaten her.

10. I am Certain That John Russell Is Thankful For ALL of Your Efforts Doc... But It Was The Repubs
That Are IN CHARGE OF THE DEMOCRATIC Party in Florida that Iced Mr Russell from the outset... It's Karen Thurman putting up a primary opponent in Rick Penberthy in 2006, Rob Whittel from Coral Gables and Delray Beach in 2004... A guy (Whittel) who was a Republican who had NEVER before in his ENTIRE LIFE CAST A VOTE IN ANY ELECTION WAS GOING TO RUN FOR CONGRESS IN DISTRICT 5... as a democrat??? Whittel actually filed to run as a Democrat while still registered ... AS A REPUBLICAN... and Thurman gave Whittel $2,000 in the general... Thurman was behind that one too... Just to block anyone from effectively challenging for HER OLD SEAT! just to prevent Russell from securing the funding necessary to win...

Is (Thurman) who takes $3,500 a month from former Florida Republican Party Chair Al Cardenas... planning to run again in District 5? Or one of her incompetent flunkies?

Try fund raising when you have a primary... First question from prospective donors when you make "the call" is... Do you have a Primary? Next response is good luck.. Thanks for running... And try as mentioned above the Rahm Emmanuel/Debbie Wasserman-Schultz/Karen Thurman dance... To Protect a good solid AIPAC vote like Ginny to keep the likes of a balanced approach like Russell from getting within smelling distance of Washington...

That's the problem...These bought and paid for Klowns MUST be EXPOSED for what they are... Lord knows the DCCC would never want someone who is smart and asks questions like Russell does anywhere near Congress... Remember the Congress is run by Corporate America.. In return for directing funding to the campaign coffers entrenched and the soon to be entrenched the "legislators" do as they are instructed! Russel would spit in their eye!

:bounce: Check out John Russell's campaign web site... His policy positions are detailed and forward thinking on Energy, Immigration Health Care, Iraq... You name it... www.johnrussellforcongress.com

Rep. Wasserman -Schultz was quoted not once but TWICE in 2006 May and October... Just before the election effusively lauding John Russell's Republican opponent incumbent, Ginny Brown-Waite as "An independent voice in Congress... and Having a Steeled backbone... " NONSENSE!

What political Party is Debbie Wasserman Schultz a member of? Much less a sitting democratic (small type for emphasis) U.S. Representative... AND SHE'S ADVOCATING FOR A REPUBLICAN ONLY A COUPLE OF WEEKS BEFORE THE GENERAL ELECTION against another member of HER OWN PARTY... w/ the audacity, guts and intellect to challenge this idiot... Brown-Waite who insults Muslims Latins and other constituents alike publicly and is proud of it...????

Just WHO IS THE TRUE DEMOCRAT HERE... Wasserman Schultz or John Russell? I think that the Honest answer is clear... JOHN RUSSELL!!!

What a PIECE OF SHIT Wasserman Schultz is...!!!!!!!!!! These people like Emmanuel, and his flunkies... surrogate Wasserman-Schultz example #1, MUST be outed and CENSURED as piss poor democrats... when they behave like tHis... Ask Bob Bowman over on the space coast... or quite few others... Then they fund piss poor Go Along Get Along democrats... many of whom w/ questionable backgrounds...

Look at the crook that "the Party has put up against Clint Curtis who campaigned hard and got 44% of the vote against Feeney in 2006? And... look at the the morons at the DCCC who are wining and dining Republican Max Linn to take out Progressive candidate Sam Simpson against long-timer Bill Young in Pinellas County ... It is PATHETIC...

TheDLC/DCCC democrats would put up ANY Republican before they would support ANY True Progressive populist candidate who has a mind of his or her own and who will NOT just do as instructed just to be elected to congress... The DCCC IS ANTITHETICAL TO ELECTING DEMOCRATS TO CONGRESS... The facts speak loud enough for themselves!

The formula is to find go along get along candidates who are not too intelligent, and are intellectually and functionally dependent rather than independent and/or are completely incapable of thinking for themselves ... or will DO ANYTHING THIS SIDE OF (name something pathetic) to get the party behind them financially... So that they can tack the Congressman label on their resume... That's a good start for analysis of the pitiful nature of integrity-free politics... and that's just our side...
