Limbaugh urges listeners to vote for Clinton
Source: CNN

(CNN) – As Hillary Clinton battles to keep her presidential bid alive, she may be getting help from an unlikely source: conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh. Limbaugh has been actively urging his Texas listeners to cross over and vote for Clinton in that state's open primary Tuesday, arguing it helps the Republicans if the Democratic race remains unsettled for weeks to come. ...

He also said Clinton is more willing than the Republican National Committee and John McCain's campaign to criticize Barack Obama.

"We need Barack Obama bloodied up politically. It's obvious that the Republicans are not going to do it, they don't have the stomach for it," Limbaugh continued. "As you probably know we're getting all kinds of memos from the RNC saying we're not going to be critical. Mark McKinnon of McCain's campaign said he'll quit if they get critical over Obama. This is the presidency of the United States we're talking about. I want our party to win I want the Democrats to lose.”

2. Of course! He knows if Hillary wins the primary, McCain wins the presidency.
He wants the least likely to succeed to run on the Democratic ticket.

5. Not necessarily. The report specifically states that he wants the Dem primary to continue...
... because they, Republicans, "need Obama bloodied up politically." His statement indicates that he feels that Obama will be the Democratic nominee and he wants Hillary to damage Obama politically as much as possible, in order to hurt his chances in November against McCain.

... and he's thrilled that Hillary is doing so. Where's the reverse psychology?

10. What bullshit.
HRC is not doing any such thing.
This is a competitive race.
Only you extremists would think that HRC has no right to be in this race.
She has every right to be and it is far from over.

12. Dude, taketh thy chill pills.
Read the news article. Your comment of "reverse psychology" being at play is unrelated to the content of the article, and I hardly view my correcting your misrepresentation as an extreme action.

Hillary *is* bloodying-up Obama, politically, as is her campaign's intent -- in order to improve her chances in tomorrow's primaries. I am making no value judgment on her doing so, in this thread, nor have I advocated here that Hillary should exit the race.

I'm perfectly happy with her staying in the race as long as she wants, regardless of the damage it may do to our eventual nominee. The more she smears Obama, the more redundant and dated will McCain's attacks be in the general election campaign.

If it weren't for New Hampshire, and not wanting to be wrong again, her campaign would have been pronounced dead weeks ago.

Secret muslim, no experience, liar, fearmongering, etcetera, etcetera. Of course she's attacking him, and attacking him with the Republican playbook.

And yeah, it is over. There's no way for her to even draw even on delegates without winning EVERY REMAINING STATE by TWENTY POINTS. She's lost, but she won't accept it.

So let me get this straight. He's more afraid of Hillary, so he's telling he's legions of ditto-drones to go vote for Hillary under the assumption that Democrats who don't listen to his show will overhear it and vote for Obama. Good thinkin!!!!

30. It does help to know what they are saying
Of course, I cannot listen for long because it turns my stomach. I do listen to rightwing radio from time to time for the same reason I read Krauthammer and Will in the editorial section: you can't refute propaganda if you don't know what it is. If they stay in their echo chamber and we stay in ours, then it will be impossible to out the lies the lying liars tell.

13. I doubt that many do. But what he is saying is common knowledge...
The longer the Democratic primary continues with its current negative tone, the more damage done to our eventual nominee -- directly to their image, or via demoralization of the voter base.

14. Bill Clinton made Limbaugh a ton of money in the 90's
Why would he not want to see Hillary elected president. That fat bastard doesn't care about politics or policy, he sees an opportunity to get rich selling bullshit to the hicks just like he did during the cliinton term.

He can spend four years trashing Hillary and getting his dumshit audience all pissed off at her and sell millions of dollars worth of advertising in the process. If I were him I'd be drooling at the prospect of a Clinton in the White House again.

15. Hell, it sounds like Limbaugh will be railing against whichever ...
... of the 3 remaining candidates wins... Clinton, Obama or McCain. I'm sure the Right Wing conservatives will hammer McCain for 4 years, and go after him in the primaries, for his second term, with some new conservative corporate toady.

Just don't want to think of a fall campaign without her, do they!?:eyes:

One of the best side-effects of Obama getting the nomination would be to see them all deprived of something they've been licking their ugly chops for over the last, oh, sixteen years. That WOULD be a sweet victory, indeed!:D

22. Rush Limpballs? Hmm... didn't Ann Coulter endorse her too?
weird crap going on over in Right Wing land.

They know that Obama draws more independents and a few cross over GOPs,
they want the Primary to go on as long as possible.

Limpballs said something about Hillary being willing to damage Obama more than
the GOP was willing to do.

Well, she's using Karl Rove's play book.

23. Some background from a listener....
It is funny how they have gone back and forth...the debate seems to have been whether to finish off the ultimate evil - the "Clinton era" - by encouraging Obama support, or whether to support Hillary and a drawn out chaos in the party even at the risk of Hillary in the White House...Rush, predictably, has jumped on the "keep Hillary in it" bandwagon, on th basis that she will do all the hard work for the repugs in destroying the Dem party.

Hannity has taken the tack, on the advice of Gingrich, to not "play god", and to stay out manipulating the dem elections. Both of them have played both sides, cheering for Hillary when she tore down Obama and Obama when she tore down Hillary.

Rush has gloated that he can do an entire show of dem bashing without even referencing anything a repug has said. Enough said?

31. CNN is the source.... reporting on Limbaugh's comments....
... which, as mentioned in another post, are no different from the comments of many knowledgeable, blowhard-free analysts. The only difference is that Limbaugh is advocating the extension of the Democratic primaries, where other pundits merely comment on the effects of continuing the primaries with their current tone.

Oh, and Limbaugh is full-of-s**t in saying that the Republicans don't have the stomach to slander Obama.
