New FBI privacy violations confirmed
Source: AP

WASHINGTON - FBI Director Robert Mueller says an upcoming Justice Department report will show the bureau improperly used national security letters to obtain personal data on Americans during terror and spy investigations.

Mueller says the report focuses on national security letters issued only in 2006 — a year before the FBI enacted sweeping new reforms to prevent future lapses.

Mueller's comments Wednesday morning in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee came just days before the Justice Department's inspector general is scheduled to release the follow-up to a similar audit in 2007.

5. Probably not. But don't underestimate the creativity of the monsters and their New Totalitarianism
This is something so new it does no even have a name yet, even as it rules Amerika, Russia AND China, 2 Billion people and an even greater share of world economy.

It is "kinder and gentler" a fusion of old totalitarianism and the use of media saturation and incredible leaps forward in the Sciences of Lying and Perception Control, aka marketing, PR, advertising, and psychology. Therefor, we cannot with certainty predict what the Penultimate and Final Forms will be. The future often surprises.

OTOH, in the end all totalitarianism is the same. Program your crazies to be Right-Wing Authoritarian Followers (maybe throw in a "New Pearl Harbor" to speed the process along) who see themselves as persecuted minorities when in fact they are murderous dominant majorities.

In the end, though we cannot predict fully because the aforementioned sciences are to what the Nazis and Soviets did with their populations are as the aircraft carrier is to the kayak, it all comes down to brute control. So it is also quite possible, when the coming of Peak Oil, Peak Economy and Global Warming finishes what the Bushies started way back in 1934

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/history/document/document_20070723.shtml

that the resulting pressures will indeed cause the Penultimate and Final Solutions the Bushies have planned for us will indeed more closely resemble the foundations on which Modern Bushevism was built rather than something new.

Plus, as the Bushies are old-style totalitarians, it may be that once the last vestiges of the Old Republic are swept away, no more camouflage will be required to pacify the enslaved and thus it may be full speed ahead to those Halliburton Concentration Camps you speak of which are already built and waiting for us.

6. Nice precedent this administration has set
"We committed a crime but then we stopped, so there's no reason to prosecute." It's been used so often it's become the Republican meme.

Might as well empty the prisons because every criminal behind bars can claim the same.

8. My Favorite Part.
In contrast to the outrage by Congress and civil liberties groups after last year's report was issued, Mueller's disclosure drew no criticism from senators during just over two hours of testimony during Wednesday's hearing.

:wtf: did we put these people "in charge" for?
