I wish I could find the article I read of the promise of Solar in a major magazine some months ago. It said this, approximately. You could cover like 10-20% of the uninhabited Nevada desert with the new, less expensive, more efficient, Solar Thermal panels, which require little maintenance once installed (just installing would be most of the costs) and that power could power all of the homes in the US and if you double that, it could power electric cars for everyone who drives a car, and heat every house that uses heat in the USA. Yeah, it seems pipe dream-ish. There would be a huge start up cost for the first part (powering every home). But that's what Nuclear power is used for, electricity for the Grid. Once all the Nuclear plants were shut down (and would be set up to be their own waste storage facilities indefinitely) the money spent there could go to use in that new Solar industry. Furthermore. Costs? I think what we will put into the Iraq war this year could probably build half of it, and the other half next year.
This is when it hits you that the handshake is between big energy and the government it partially controls (along with other corporations that control it). They may realize if they would invest in it, they could still control it to some degree. No, it'd not net the cash boom they get with fossil fuels, and it would have a much smaller return, and that last part is why it will never happen so long as lobbyists for Nuclear, Coal and Oil. Remember, the largest supplier of our Oil is US, not OPEC, we get more oil from Canada than any other country besides ourselves and 2/3 comes from North America in general, we give billions in corporate welfare to big energy which turns the biggest profits ever. $40 billion two years in a row for Exxon/Mobil (a US company) the largest profits ever posted by a company, to develop new alternative power sources. We give them money to develop ways to put themselves out of business with Solar/Hydrogen/Water and Wind Power. Right, sure they will.
Big Energy is duping America as surely as Morgan dupes us in monetary policy (with it's pal the Federal Reserve) Rothschild dupes Europe (and pretends to be 'Environmentalist') and Rockefeller's Standard Oil was how it all started. The big three. Still in control. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for better ways to get rid of Nuclear waste, but not with the hope of making more Nuke power. Even if we could get rid of it all vs. storing it, the fact remains, Nuclear plants are still easy targets for terrorist attack they have been repeatedly shown to be under-prepared for (some 'Homeland Security'). Since most such attacks son US soil would probably be created or at least supported by Neo-Cons, regardless of if they are in power (ie. with private globalist dollars) just having operating Nuclear facilities is not safe. It's that simple. You can't threaten Nevada by blowing up the Solar Panels and they'd be really easy to protect out there in the middle of nowhere so our power supply would not be threaten-able. That is if we were really seeking solutions. I mean WE are, but the powers that be want this mess. They thrive in it.
Those with real answers (Kucinich, etc.) never win because they are focused on solving problems. The powers that be, or will be, or that will keep winning elections parade problems around to garner votes & make a bumper-sticker case. Why would they solve them? They'd rather fix the blame than problems. The answer is out there and it can be developed, but only if they want it to. They have too much power, and too few of them do. And the last three Presidents to stand up to the monetary policy & elite globalists were assassinated by those they hired (ie. JFK, Garfield, and Lincoln). When Neo fought the Matrix, even he succumbed to bullets just as it seemed he could win this thing. Of course, he ended up getting up due to super-powers, but in the real world, we don't have such power. Even those suspected of being against those policies while running (ie. RFK) get offed for that reason. I digress. There are some useful links below you might enjoy reading. Solar is doable, but support by the powers that be doesn't exist and in fact it is opposed by them for reasons stated above.
