Iowa Rep. King defends views on Obama, terrorists, despite McCain rebuke

An Iowa Republican congressman on Monday defended his prediction that terrorists would celebrate if Democrat Barack Obama were elected president, despite a rebuke from aides to John McCain, the GOP's apparent presidential nominee.

"(Obama will) certainly be viewed as a savior for them," Rep. Steve King told The Associated Press. "That's why you will see them supporting him, encouraging him."

...

Asked about the remarks as he campaigned in Mississippi, Obama said, "I think that Mr. King has it backwards. The fact that the continuation of a presence in Iraq as Senator McCain has suggested is exactly what, I think, will fan the flames of anti-American sentiment and make it more difficult for us to create a long-term and sustainable peace in the world.

"But I have to say that Mr. King and individuals like him thrive on offensive or controversial statements as a way to get in the papers, so I don't take it too seriously. I would hope Senator McCain would want to distance himself from that kind of inflammatory and offensive remarks," Obama said.

3. John McCain MUST reject and denounce
And say that he does not welcome the support of such people.

Anything less is de facto endorsement of King's comments.

4. I caught him on O'Really last night while dialing around....
he might as well have just said one line: "Obama is a terrorist" over and over...

no matter how he was asked to expound and expand his points, he just kept saying that the 'islamo-xxxx's' (he stumbled over the exact terminology he was trying to use) would celebrate BO's nomination, let alone election...

nothing better than a good old American patriot looking out for the good of the People....

just another nazi, whether he knows it or not...

5. I emailed that guy (King)
I was going to say I emailed that asshole, but that's insulting to all assholes everywhere. Anyway, I emailed him and told him that while I don't live in his district, I am still an Iowan, and as such, I am angry about those comments. I said that he is making the whole state look bad and we are not all bad. In fact, this is a great state. I sure hope the kingcops don't come and get me. But I suppose if they do, it'll be a paradise down there at Gitmo. After all, King and his cronies say it is. And I'd be willing to bet a lot of money that McCain will say nothing at all about his comments, or just dismiss them.

7. This bigot is from near my hometown

I can't believe he came from there.
Most NW Iowans lead a fairly sheltered life but they usually are very open to accepting others. There are some hate mongers sprinkled in there but they usually get weeded out.
This guy is something else.

OMG
He graduated from the same University :puke:

When he's gone their 8 year party will be over. They'll really want to commit suicide.
