House Fails To Override Bush's Veto On CIA Waterboarding Bill
Source: Associated Press

(03-11) 16:04 PDT WASHINGTON, (AP) --

House Democrats have failed in their attempt to overturn President Bush's veto of a bill that would have prohibited the CIA from using waterboarding and other harsh interrogation techniques on terrorist suspects.

Bush had vetoed the bill on Saturday. House Democrats could not muster the two-thirds majority they needed Tuesday to force the bill into law despite the veto. It would have limited the CIA to the 19 interrogation method approved by the U.S. military.

We need to weed out the turncoat scum that have infiltrated the party of Jefferson.

38. I'm trying to find a website that lists the breakdown of votes.
Thus far there is incomplete information regarding how members voted. The Washington Post's summary contains a partial list of votes (with all Democrats listed voting in favor of the bill).

Congress's website, Thomas:

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d110:H.R.2082:

The Post's link:

http://projects.washingtonpost.com/congress/110/house/2/votes/117/

Project Vote Smart's link, which doesn't seem to have the breakdown yet either:

http://www.votesmart.org/issue_keyvote_detail.php?cs_id=17680

If anyone can find a news story with the breakdown, I'm interested.

6. A sad day...
Hopefully after November the Democratic Congress will have the 2/3 majority to override a president. Regardless of who the president is.

A Democratic Congress less the Democrats who voted against the override if they're on the ballot. If not, then next time.

Any Democrat who would support this president and this administration is nothing less than a Jew for Hitler.

24. Hopefully after November we won't need it
What we need is a president, of either party but preferably a Democrat, who won't come up with stupid shit.

7. Useless, absolutely useless
Between the spineless Dems in office, and the thoroughly disgusting primary goings-on, I'm about ready to pack it in.

The prospects of anything getting better in this country grow dimmer by the minute. The party is on track to implode into millions of little pieces that the Republicans will be more than happy to pick up.

Let the freaks have it and all their stupid followers wishing for a Dictator. Those fuckers will get exactly what they want and i bet it will not be what they thought it was.

Because we say something that they don't want to hear. Because maybe we don't necessarily agree with everything that the government says is good for us. When any dissent is met with torture and at that point it is goin gto be too late my friend.

37. You know, luckily i have nothing to lose right now.
It is a good time for me to get out. I don't mean to burden anyone, just vent a bit.

My wife passed away because she couldn't get a operation she needed. The insurance company had a new reason constantly why they could not approve of her treatment. All bullshit.

My best friend in the world (13 year old Lab) just passed away as well.

It's as if a new start is screaming at me? :)

Matter of fact, a good buddy of mine owns a charter business and sails all over when he can. He has been begging me to cruise with him. Think i am going this time.

I am vented. All i can do at this point:)

is to continually bring their hopes up and then crushing them, over and over again ...

I'm not so sure I despise the Democratic Party as much as the Republican Party now, at least you know exactly where Republicans are coming from ...

22. 2/3rds majority required -- Dems don't have it, yet
But, why did Kucinich, Waters, and Marshall vote 'Nay' on overriding the veto?

This is wierd. I didn't have the chance to watch - was watching hearings, but can anyone explain this?
