McCain names eBay's former chief to co-chair his campaign
Source: SF Chronicle

Arizona Sen. John McCain, who has promised a serious bid to win California in the fall presidential election, today bulked up his dream team of Silicon Valley managers and advisors by naming Atherton billionaire and former eBay chief executive Meg Whitman as co-chair of his national campaign.

Whitman, 51 - who is quietly exploring the possibility of a 2010 run for California governor at the urging of top Republicans - stepped down in January from the company she built into a powerhouse online marketplace, saying she was seeking new challenges.

In her new role, she will serve as a leading McCain campaign surrogate, policy adviser and fundraiser, joining former HP chief executive Carly Fiorina and Cisco CEO John Chambers in high-profile campaign roles for the candidate.

GOP insiders said the move to add Whitman, who had been a leading supporter of former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney before he dropped out of the presidential race this month, to the growing ranks of high-tech stars on McCain's team could significantly boost his support and finances in the nation's most populous state, the ATM of political fundraising.

1. Great.
Let's hope she runs McCains's campaign the way she ran eBay. Badly, that is.

McSame has the biggest bunch of idiots and criminals lined up in his organization. Did you know Carly Fiorina is working for him?

Yep the same one that screwed up Lucent and Dell.

If you mean smart as in worthless criminal I can agree but smart in some useful manner never.

12. Not so much
she is a very smart business woman. I have read articles she wrote in various publications. She was not a figurehead.

Never underestimate an adversary.

13. Most of it's
used ticky-tacky too. Recycled crap. That's the McCain platform. He's even implying it will cost us less. Lovely.
