Al Gore Releases First Ever Children’s Book on Climate Change

Published by TERI and JSW Foundation

New Delhi, Delhi, India, Saturday, March 15, 2008 -- (Business Wire India)
Nobel Laureate and former US Vice President Mr Albert Arnold (Al) Gore, Jr, today released two books Know Climate Change and 101 Q and A on Climate Change from ‘Save Planet Earth Series’, a six-book series jointly published by TERI Press and the JSW Foundation, at the India Habitat Centre.

Also present during the event were Dr R K Pachauri, Director-General, The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), and Chairman, IPCC, along with Ms Sangita Jindal, Chairperson, JSW Foundation, who has been instrumental in the publishing of ‘Save Planet Earth Series’ books. Terrapin, the children’s imprint of TERI Press has published these books with the support of JSW Foundation. Lucid and age-appropriate, the text of each book is reviewed by a TERI expert in the field of environment. The theme of all these books is woven around TERI’s mandate of energy, environment, and sustainable development. All Terrapin books are printed on recycled paper, conforming to the ideals of sustainable publishing.

This concise and informative series, printed on recycled paper, introduces children to the critical issue of climate change and offers information on clean, green solutions to the problem. Beautiful photographs, detailed illustrative work, and natty designs make this series a visual delight for kids. Engaging text, reviewed by experts in the field of environment, and high production values make it a must-have for every child.

Apart from Know Climate Change and 101 Q and A on Climate Change, the other titles in the series are – The Three Rs—Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, a guide on how to reduce, reuse, and recycle at school and at home; Conservation: How to Save a Planet – an exciting book on what can children do at home and school to conserve nature and natural resources; then would follow Clean Solutions for a Green Earth – an entertaining book that teaches children cool ways to stop global warming; and lastly, SOS for Earth – a title that reveals the most critically endangered plants and animals in the world, as well as places and cultures in danger due to climate change.

1. who wrote that headline?
First ever?! *sheesh*
Here's what I get from Amazon on a Google search for "children's book climate change".

http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&keywords=climate%20change&rh=n%3A4%2Ck%3Aclimate%20change&page=1

914 results.

Granted, they are probably not all relevant. But the first couple of pages look like a treasure trove of age-appropriate books.

6. I wasn't criticizing you
You didn't need to change your post heading, Hissyspit. IIRC, LBN rules say that you're supposed to copy the original.

9. now if he would just write a children's book on American Government
maybe we could have an upcoming generation that would actually get it and restore what the founding fathers intended

10. I'm not so sure I want what the founding fathers intended...
I'm pretty fond of the 13th through the 27th amendments which were pretty much after the founding fathers kicked the bucket. And the New Deal was pretty cool too. I like the FCC's role as a protector of the public airways too... as opposed to a censor... Yeah, I'm pretty partial to a lot of the stuff AFTER the founding fathers. Can we have that back too? :-)

11. yeah, that too
I was referring to the part about having checks and balances, not having a dictator, that sort of thing.

the founders, after all, provided for amendments, so they count. and laws passed under their intended method? yep, they count. We keep social security, etc. Just scrap the oligarchy. That was what Hamilton wanted, and Jefferson said no way.

12. Did he write for children or thickheaded repubs?
Maybe Rush will be able to read through this one to the end?

Maybe he'll comprehend it too?
