Police: Clinton Aide To Plead Guilty
Source: Associated Press

NASHUA, N.H. - A senior adviser to Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton has agreed to plead guilty to drunken driving after the arresting officer was ordered to Iraq making a trial on a more serious charge impossible, police said Monday.

Under the plea, Sidney Blumenthal, a journalist and former White House adviser to President Clinton, will lose his right to drive for 16 months.

Now an unpaid adviser to Hillary Clinton's campaign, Blumenthal 59, was arrested Jan. 7, the day before the New Hampshire primary, and charged with aggravated drunken driving. Police said Blumenthal was traveling 70 mph in a 30 mph zone.

The case had been set for trial last week, but Blumenthal has agreed to plead guilty to a reduced charge of driving while intoxicated with enhanced penalties, Nashua police Capt. Peter Segal said.

1. In all fairness,
this really doesn't have anything to do with the Clintons.

9. Clinton doesn't wield that much power.
And a DUI is hardly worth going to all that effort for an unpaid consultant.

4. Man...
Sidney Blumenthal is supposed to be a LOT smarter than this. I sure hope everything in his life is getting sorted out.

5. Yeah i'm kinda torn on the whole DUI thing
IMO if someone had like 2 beers and is just over .08 but driving normally except for forgetting to use a turn signal, the cops shouldn't be able to pull em over. Those drunk check stops are unconstitutional IMO.

But when someone is going 70 in a 30? Come on... that's cause for some hardy consequences. Of course when you're rich the DUI penalties don't do much to you. When you're poor/middle class they can ruin your life.

But yeah this doesn't reflect anything on the Clinton Campaign.

This has no reflection on the Clinton campaign whatsoever. On the other hand, it does show that there is some serious chaos in Sid's life and that I will not celebrate.

10. He was probably hanging out with Ted Kennedy.
Chances are he was probably smart enough to pay for any other "entertainment" he indulged in that night with cash, though.

11. Ahh spoken like a true Retardican G Gorden Libby might be one of the ones behind
what really happened that day at Chappaquiddick! A man drugged then driven off a bridge to kill him and make it look like a drunken act! That is something right out of the Dick Nixon Dirty Tricks Play book! Or should I say the Bush Family Mobster SOP! I think some one with a handle like G Gorden Libby is not a real Democratic supporter just a and should be

12. One plus for Blumenthal, he gets off the hook, everyone blames Hillary
and her evil laser beam eyes, since she is now responsible for all badness that goes on anywhere within a hundred mile radius.
